Carlisle Racecourse is nestled against the
idyllic village of Blackwell in Cumbria,
in between the Scottish Borders and
the Lake District. As well as excellent
rail accessibility from both England and
Scotland, we are just off Junction 42
of the M6 with ample free parking for
delegates.

In 2010, Jockey Club Racecourses and
Compass Group UK & Ireland formed a
joint venture, ‘Jockey Club Catering’,
which offers top quality in-house
catering, hospitality and service across

With a dedicated events management
team on hand to guarantee the success
of every occasion, you can be sure
everything will go to plan. Our beautiful
site is easy to reach by rail and road, with
easy signage to ensure everyone gets
here safely. Once guests arrive there is
ample free parking, and we will take care
of every need as they enjoy a fabulous
escape in one of the UK’s most beautiful
locations. Our events team work all year
round and will be more than happy to
accommodate your event.

In our experience, no two exhibitions
and outdoor events are ever the same,
which is why we take great care in
tailoring our facilities to precisely what
you need. From your choice of suites and
unique seating arrangements, to making
use of our state of the art audio visual
equipment and the picturesque outdoor
areas, we’ll put everything together just
the way you want it. And of course our
Jockey Club Catering staff will provide
a mouth-watering menu to keep visitors

Our largest room, the Patterson Suite, is situated on the first floor and has capacity for up to 600 delegates. It can be split for more
intimate occasions and features a spacious bar area and stunning views of the course.

In 2010 Jockey Club Racecourses and
Compass Group UK & Ireland formed
a joint venture, ‘Jockey Club Catering’,
which offers top quality catering,
hospitality and service across The Jockey
Club’s entire portfolio of venues on
racedays as well as for conferences and
events. There’s a fantastic range of set
menus available, from canapés to four
course formal banqueting, all created
from the freshest seasonal ingredients,
sourced locally wherever possible. As well
as offering a choice of menus, Jockey
Club Catering is also available to help
event organisers design bespoke options
for their guests.
AV & Staging Partners
Carlisle Racecourse can offer a full audio
visual (AV) specification across the venue
and we also work with a number of
local AV partners for more detailed
and technical event briefs.
Staging and effects are easy to
facilitate with Carlisle’s flexible spaces,
high ceilings, vehicular access and 24
hour operational access available
where required.
Jockey Club Racecourses
Racing requires a lot of space and
Jockey Club Racecourses own more
than 3000 acres of prime British
countryside as well as many notable
and historic buildings. With a total of
81 function rooms and 230 syndicate
rooms, Jockey Club Racecourses can
seat 9 times more people than the Royal
Albert Hall, across 14 venues in the
United Kingdom.
Carlisle Racecourse is one of three
Jockey Club Racecourses in the North
West of England, along with Aintree and
Haydock Park. Aintree Racecourse is
located equidistant to Manchester and
Liverpool and is home to The Crabbie’s
Grand National Festival. Haydock Park
is ideally situated just off junction 23
of the M6 in acres of glorious parkland
and offers conference and banqueting
capacity for 400 people.

The Lake District
If you’re craving even more natural
beauty than our racecourse provides,
visitors can extend a trip to take in the
Lake District National Park which is
situated a 30 minute drive to the south.
Travel Information
Whether you’re coming from England or
Scotland, we are easily reached by car
just off junction 42 of the M6. Carlisle
bus and train stations are both just a few
miles away, and a short journey by bus
or taxi.
Accommodation
A wide variety of hotels and other
accommodation can be found in and
around the historic town of Carlisle.
