2. Remove the 16 Cover Bolts and lift offthe Cover Sub-Assembly. Discard the'0' ring Seal from the Covercounterbore.

3. Lift out the Carrier Sub-Assembly andthe top Thrust Washer. The ThrustWasher may stick inside the Cover.

(C·4. Pry the Ring Gear loose and remove it.

Discard the '0' ring Seal from the Hubcounterbore.

5. Remove the Input Shaft, Input Gear, and the Thrust Spacers that are on theInput Shaft.

6. Liti out the Internal Gear and ThrustWasher. The Thrust Washer may stickto the bottom of the Carrier.

7. Remove the Retaining Ring from theSpindle and discard; then lift the huboff the Spindle. .

8. The inside Bearing Cone and theBearing Shim can now be removed.

9. The Seal can be pried out of the Hubwith a screw driver or pry bar. Thiswill also allow the outside Bearing tobe removed.

.,.~1i

Note: If bearing replacement isnecessary, the Bearing Cups canbe removed with a "slidehammer puller" or driven out'With a punch.

10.To remove the Cluster Gears from theCarrier, drive the anti-roll pin into thePlanet Shaft of the Cluster Gear. Afterthe Planet Shaft is removed the roll pinshould be driven out of the Planet Shaft.

WARNING: When rebuilding the unit, the'0' rings and Retaining Rings should

always be replaced.
