oPen days Open Days give you the opportunity to meet the tutors, view the facilities and find out more about the courses. There is no appointment necessary, just turn up and we’ll be happy to give you advice and guidance and discuss your options.

kensington CentreClose to Portobello Road and bustling Notting Hill, the Kensington Centre takes its lead from the creative atmosphere of the local area. Local attractions include Golborne Road and Portobello Market and The Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising. Our art and design studios are based here, and include excellent facilities for ceramics, glass and jewellery, as well as graphic design and digital media. The centre also has a business enterprise suite complete with new IT facilities and WiFi access.
The Hairdressing and Beauty Salons offer an excellent training environment and are open to the public to give students real work experience.

Chelsea CentreOur multi-million pound Chelsea Centre sits in the heart of the Chelsea design quarter and is situated by London’s famous King’s Road, with its fashionable boutiques and cafés. It offers students access to the latest technology, spacious fashion studios, professional Mac design suites and new photography darkroom facilities. The Chelsea Centre also boasts a large exhibition and conference hall, a vibrant cafe, modern library facilities with laptops and iPads and WiFi access.

iMMerse yourself in student lifeWe want you to feel inspired outside of the classroom as well as inside it. you’ll find lots of fantastic resources and support networks in place to help you settle into college life, make new friends and discover new and exciting opportunities.
Our youth work team provides a programme of activities and services throughout the year. Some of the extracurricular activities on offer include organised trips such as skiing, paintballing, volunteering opportunities, Jack Petchey Awards, sporting events and opportunities to join the College sports team.
The youth work team also offers training programmes to help build personal skills and raise awareness of social and health issues.

WHAT DOES THIS LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION COVER?
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
QUALIFICATION TYPE
level 1 Level 1 courses give an introduction to a subject. You’ll gain a foundation of knowledge and learn to apply your skills to everyday or job-related situations with supervision.
You don’t need any formal qualifications, but you will need to have satisfactory English and maths skills.
nVQ level 1A work-based course designed to introduce you to the skills you need for a job in a particular industry.
bteC introductory CertificateIntroductory courses in subject areas leading on to level 2.
CaChe Foundation award level 1This course is equivalent to 3 GCSE at grades D–G and allows you to learn basic skills in caring for children. You progress onto level 2 qualifications.
level 2 Level 2 courses provide a good level of knowledge and understanding and will allow you to perform varied tasks with some supervision.
You’ll need four GCSEs at grade D or above or a level 1 vocational qualification in a related subject.
GCseCovering a wide range of subjects, forming a base of knowledge allowing you to progress onto further learning.
nVQ level 2A work-based qualification with industry-assessed placement.

You’ll need four GCSEs at grade C or above (one must be English) or a level 2 vocational qualification with merit or distinction and functional skills at level 2.

If you do not have English or maths GCSE at Grade C or above, you will be required to take these alongside your programme of work. English and maths are core subjects that will help you progress into further study or full time employment. English and maths classes will be timetabled alongside your main programme of study.

ESOL courses are for people who speak English as a second language. They will help you to improve your English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Our full-time ESOL Enterprise course is for people aged 16–18 years and runs for one year. It includes intensive English language and maths tuition along with vocational options such as multimedia, business and book-keeping.
All ESOL courses include tutorial support to help you plan and get the most out of your personal study. Come along to our advice and guidance sessions to complete a short assessment to find out your language level and the best course for you.

Being an apprentice gives you the opportunity to get a recognised qualification and develop professional skills, while earning a salary. As an apprentice you will:

By undertaking an Apprenticeship with us, you’ll have the opportunity to get employment and training with top employers. Major organisations such as Chanel, Corrigan’s Restaurants, British Transport Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Historic Royal Palaces, Hemingway Design, Press Association, Hustlebucks and the Royal Institute of British Architects all have apprentices training with Kensington and Chelsea College.
We provide extensive support once you start with your new employer and manage all your training to enable you to successfully complete your Apprenticeship.
What i really enjoy about my apprenticeship is meeting new people and learning from others. i have learnt new business skills, how to adapt to change in a working environment, the importance of policies and why we need them in business.

health, fitness and soCial CareThe health and care professions are diverse and rewarding for people who want a career where they can use their skills to help others.
The College has links with many local health and care organisations which provide work placement opportunities helping to build your experience of real-life work in health and care roles. Guest speakers from companies like British Red Cross and Care UK come in to College throughout the year to speak to our students.
If you want to turn your passion for sport into a career, our Health, Fitness & Exercise course will give you the experience and qualifications to be able to achieve that goal.
All our students use the modern facilities at Portobello Green Fitness Centre.

PhotograPhyOur tutors are highly experienced photography practitioners offering a unique insight into the photographic medium.
We are well resourced both in digital and analogue (traditional film) photography. Our studio has Elinchrom studio flash, Hi-Glide lighting support, radio triggers and meters.
The photography digital suite has Apple Mac computers (running Photoshop), Eizo colour managed monitors and film scanners.
The photography darkroom has enlargers for 35mm and medium format film and printing on resin coated as well as fibre papers, film processing and film scanners.
Students from our courses regularly go on to Higher Education or become working freelance photographers, a great achievement in a very competitive environment.

If you’re aged 16-18 and are a home student* you don’t have to pay a tuition fee for government funded Further Education courses.
If you are under 19, please bring proof of age with you to enrolment – either a birth certificate, passport or driving licence.

To be eligible for the standard fee you need to be:
a a citizen of the United Kingdom and Ireland, have Right of Abode (the right to live permanently in the United Kingdom without any immigration restrictions) or
b a citizen of a country that is within the European Economic Area (EEA).
You must also have been ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom and Islands or the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) continuously for at least the previous three years on the first day of learning.
Family members of UK, EU and EEA citizens who have not been ordinarily resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years MAY also be eligible, please call 020 7573 5333 to check. This evidence will also be required at enrolment.
A non-EEA citizen is eligible for funding if they have permission granted by the UK Government to live in the UK, which is not for educational purposes, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning. This evidence will also be required at enrolment.
Anyone with any of the statuses listed below, their husbands, wives, civil partners and children, may also be eligible for funding:

Asylum seekers are eligible for funding if they have legally been in the UK while their claim is being considered by the Home Office for longer than six months and no decision has been made, or they are in the care of the local authority and are receiving local authority support under s23C or s23CA Children Act 1989 or s21 National Assistance Act 1948.
Students not ordinarily resident in the UK, EU or EEA will be charged the Non-EU fee. If you are unsure of your status we will willingly look at your fee assessment with you.
Please make sure you bring all relevant documentation and your passport at the time of enrolment. Overseas learners, whose main purpose for residence in the UK has been to attend a fee-paying school or college, are not eligible for the standard fee – please ask for details.

international stuDents
If you need to apply for a student visa you must get accepted onto a course that is level 3 or above with 15 hours (three days) of organised daytime study per week. You will also need to prove that you have sufficient funds to support you during your stay in the UK.
You will be interviewed in person for the course and you must provide all the original documents required. You will also need to satisfy the English language level requirements for the course you are applying for.
You will need to apply for the course you are interested in, have an interview and be accepted.
If you are accepted we will provide you with a CAS number. You will need to give this to the UK Border Agency to get your visa. At the time of issuing there will be a £21 fee for the CAS number and a £100 non-refundable deposit to ensure your place on the course. Once agreed, the course fees will appear alongside the course on our website. The full fee must be paid before your course starts.

reFunDs / transFers
The College does not normally refund fees after the course has started – but will do if the College has to change the course venue or time, or if we have to close the course.
You may be entitled to transfer to another course – or in exceptional circumstances a voucher or partial refund by voucher, excluding an administration charge, valid for one calendar year. Transferring to another course will be limited to one per enrolment and will not be acceptable after the fourth week of the course. Please ensure you retain your payment receipt as no refund or transfer can be made without this.

We have a day nursery at our Kensington Centre for children aged between 18 months and 5 years which is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm. Our aim is to provide a creative, stimulating and enjoyable experience for children.
Our qualified team ensures that a well-planned curriculum of activities is available each day to support children’s learning and development through play.
