Aircraft Engine Industry Forms Trade Association Irvine, California – February 01, 2012 -- The International Aircraft Engine Association, a global trade organization, has been formed to represent the worldwide interests of aircraft engine manufacturers, operators and providers of overhaul, repair and consulting services. Hooman Rezaei, IAEA’s founder and president, said the aircraft engine community needs an international organization that brings together the diversified aviation community and provides a platform for collaboration among all facets and interests in the industry. “The International Aircraft Engine Association is the first trade organization dedicated to providing the global aircraft engine industry with a range of services, from an online marketplace to operating certification training programs,” said Rezaei. “With its worldwide growth and expansion, the interests of the aircraft engine community demand representation that addresses, on an international basis, the ongoing challenges.” Since the inception of jet propulsion in the 1930s, millions of passengers and tons of cargo have been carried around the world on aircraft powered by variety of engine models. Aircraft engines fly under several aircraft tail numbers and change the aircraft values significantly at every installation until their end of life solutions. Today, 80,000 commercial engines are in service with firm orders for another 14,000 and maintenance market in excess of $20 billion business. Until the formation of IAEA, there has been no single trade organization that worked to standardize engine maintenance contracts or organized a consolidated engine exposition similar to the International Paris Air Show for aircraft. The association also will be a market place for aircraft engines, making engines available for trade or lease on an online live listing. “The association and its members will address, with a unified voice, all aspects of an engine on a global basis,” Rezaei said. The International Aircraft Engine Association will have working teams on specific areas of ownership; operations and maintenance; consulting services; and training certification programs. IAEA also will be a forum for the exchange of news and event information of interest to the industry with an exclusive journal publication. “As IAEA president, I am working tirelessly to develop an organization that meets the challenges of the 21st century,” Rezaei said. The 2012 individual membership is complimentary and will be considered founding members with future exclusive privileges.
