Overview

IBM® XIV® Storage System is an enterprise-class storage system with an innovativegrid architecture designed to deliver high levels of reliability, performance, andscalability.

For more detailed information about IBM XIV Storage System (previousgeneration), refer to its user documentation and online information.

What's new in version 10.2.4.e-8Version 10.2.4.e-8 of IBM XIV Storage System is a minor release that includessecurity vulnerability fixes.

General availability date: 26 April 2015

Hot upgrade from earlier versionsVersion 10.2.4.e-8 is available only for XIV model 281x-A14 and supports direct hotupgrade from the following earlier versions:v 10.2.4.e-7v 10.2.4.e-5v 10.2.4.e-3v 10.2.4.e

The upgrade must be performed only by an authorized IBM service technician.

Before initiating the upgrade, some preparation steps are required. For moreinformation, see 'Non-disruptive code load' in the IBM XIV Product Overviewpublication.

Management toolsIBM XIV Storage System version 10.2.4.e-8 can be managed and monitored withIBM XIV Management Tools version 4.5 or later.

Note: Although earlier management tool versions are able to detect and manageXIV systems of version 10.2.4.e-8, only XIV Management Tools version 4.5 or latereliminates the later-arising security issues.

XIV customers are entitled to free use of the XIV management tools, which can bedownloaded at any time from the IBM Fix Central website (ibm.com/support/fixcentral).
