Need for Water Management.
It has been said that water is life. Water is one of the most important resources of nature. To say, the earth is
surrounded by water from all sides but only 2.5% of the water is found in natural sources - river, pond, wells
and bavadias - whereas half percent is groundwater storage. 97 percent water storage is in the sea. But it is
also a stark reality that India stands at the mouth of the water crisis countries. In view of this importance of
water, in India, the discussion is held every year from 2012 to the week, which the government has given the
name of India Water Week. Responsibility for organizing this has been entrusted to the Ministry of Water
Resources. It was conceived by the same ministry as well.
International forum
This international forum has proved to be very useful for open discussion on the utility, management and
other issues related to water, in which experts from abroad have given important suggestions on the
management and implementation of water resources. Three basic pillars for coordinated water resource

management have been considered by experts - social support, economic efficiency and environmental
integrity. To achieve these objectives, it is necessary to manage the work plan according to the basins of the
basin and regular monitoring and evaluation of the basin. Five important suggestions were found in the first
churn in 2012 –
· Enrichment of better water management for food and energy conservation.
· Necessity to discuss policy on effective and better use of water.
· The emphasis on proper coordination between the financial and financial status of the water projects.
· Issues related to climate change related issues from which all activities of the National Water Mission are
linked, they have to be promoted more.
Effective water management needs in India.
In India, there are many problems in which water savings are less, waste is more. It is also a fact that the
pressure of the increasing population, tampering with nature and mismanagement are also a cause of water
crisis. Irregular monsoons and rain have also increased water crisis for the last few years. This crisis forced
governments of many states to adopt traditional methods for water conservation. Initiative has been initiated
to build small dams and ponds across the country. With this, the problem of drinking water and irrigation can
be overcome to some extent. More than 30 percent of the population lives in cities in India. Figures from the
Ministry of Housing and Urban Development show that there is a need to pay immediate attention towards
proper management of water and waste water in almost two hundred cities of the country. Due to this the
measures to save surface water from pollution are also not meaningful. The Ministry of Water Resources itself
also believes that the challenges of fresh water management are increasing ever increasing. The limited water
resources need coordination between agriculture, city bodies and demand for environmental use, quality water
and supply.
New National Water Policy Needs.
Three national water policies have been created in the country in the last 70 years. The first policy was created
in 1987, second in 2002 and the third water policy in 2012. Apart from this, 14 states have developed their
hype. The rest of the state is in the process of preparing. In this national policy, "Consuming water as a natural
resource, it has been considered as the basis of life, livelihood, food security and sustainable development."

The policy has said that the use of water and the allocation of equality and the adoption of social justice rules
have been adopted. The ministry says that large parts of India have already been reduced to water. Due to the
increase in population growth, urbanization and lifestyles, water demand has increased due to serious
challenges. Increasing pollution in water sources is dangerous for the environment and health as well as the
availability of clean water. It has been emphasized in the water policy that for the purpose of food security,
biological and equal and sustainable development, the State Governments should manage the water as a
community resource in accordance with the principle of public heritage. However, the right to make policies,
law and regulation regarding water is of the States, yet it is time to prepare the comprehensive National Water
Framework for comprehensive general principles of water. In order to make necessary legislation for water
handling in states and to deal with local water situation, necessary authority can be handed over at the lower
level. A new water policy should be made in view of the fast changing condition. There should be provision
of sufficient water for every need and strict punishment for water pollutants.
Many organizations are working at the government level for water problem, supply, management and
exploitation. National Water Mission and the Water Revolution Campaign are doing their best at their level.
The aim of the mission is to reduce water conservation, misuse and to ensure equitable water supply and
management equally to everyone. The campaign is in the work of water management, public awareness and
supply in villages and urban areas.
Such programs are organized in many countries.
The importance of water is recognized by all countries. Developed countries such as Canada, Australia,
Singapore, and America also hold water weeks. In Singapore, more than 90 delegates from thirty countries
who took part in the Young Water Leaders - 2016 event took part in a thorough discussion on water issue.
This year, the India Water Week - 2017, being held in India from 10 to 14 October, 2017, is going to join the
Netherlands as a partner country. It should be expected that the benefit of Holland in the water sector will get
India in the coming days.
