Ibuprofen

Drug class: NSAID200 mg / 5 ml q6 PRN for pain Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti pyretic activities that largely related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Inhibits both cyclogenase (COX) 1 and 2. Ibuprofen is more selective for COX 2Relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis; relief of mild to moderate pain; fever reductionAllergy to ibuprofen, salicylates or other NSAIDCNS: headache, dizziness, fatigue, tinnitus, ophthalmologic effects

CV: hypertension, palpitations, arrhythmia, heart failure

GI: nausea, GI pain, vomiting, constipation

Respiratory: dsypnea, hemoptysis, bronchospasm, rhinitis

1. administer drug with foods or after meals if GI upset occurs.

2. discontinue drug if eye changes.

3. use drug as suggested

4. ask patient to report sore throat, fever, rash, itching, swelling in the ankles or fingers.
