One day training programme on onion seed production technology was organised by KVK in collaboration with CAlM - Krushi Samruddhi Project at KVKcampus, on 3 rd November2014. Chairman, Suvide Foundation, KVK Hon. Anantraoji Deshmukh, was presided over the programme. Programme Coordinator Dr. R.L. Kale, District Project Manager CAlM project Mr. G.D. Chavan, and Scientists of KVK along with 110 farmers from across district were present on this occasion. . With an end to end approach, representatives of pnvate seed companies have also been invited for linkage of seed programme such as Mr. P.P. Deshmukh (Ma~abe~j), Mr. Sachin Janjale (East West seeds), Mr. Ra~l Patll (Syngenta) and Mr. S.P.Gore (Mahico seeds). Project Manager Mr. Raju Markand, Mr. Nikhil Bali from Risod cluster, Mr. Ramesh Badade from Washim cluster and Mr. Rodge from Malegaon along with their team members were also actively participated in the programme. To promote the banking mandate in the farming community a Banker's Meet organized on 7th Nov. 2014 under NABARD sponsored Lead Crop Project at village Mothegaon, one of selected 5 villages of the cluster in Chief presence of Lead Bank Manager Washim Shri. Mehtaji. Other dignitaries attended the programme include Dr.Pradeep Parate (D.D.M.NABARD Washim), Shri. Patil Incharge, (RSETI Washim), Mr.R.S.Daware (SMS Plant Protection KVK Karda) and representative from District Central Cooprative Bank Risod. After the formal inauguration Dr.Pradeep Parate in his introductory remarks presents the progress report of Lead Crop project and explained about how Bank Mandate can be linked with project objectives for higher productivity and net return. Mr.R.S.Daware talks about the low cost technologies recommended by Dr.PDKV Akola for major lead crop included in the project and also urged the participants to take the advantage of bank credit facilities along with appropriate repayment of loan amount as per bank guidelines. In the chief guidance Shri.Mehata highlighted on the importance of Bank account and Prime Minister's Jan dhan scheme in the benefit of rural population. During this occasion Shri. Sanjay Jadhav Member VLC Lead Crop Project, Mothegaon also expressed his views on the present crop productivity condition of the farmers and expectation from Bankers with respect of crop loan. also appreciated private companies for their activelyparticipation in this training programme.

Hon. Shri Anantraoji Deshmukh in his speechappreciated the work of KVK and CAlM project. Heappealed the farmers to take advantage of variousdiscipline ofKVK and CAlM for overall development ofagriculture. He also emphasized on end to end approachinitiated by Mr. Nivrutti Patil under CAlM project.

In technical session, Mr. Nivrutti Patil guided thefarmers on commercial seed production technology fromSoil selection to the harvesting and marketing of theproduce. He specially focused on selection of bulb, Bulbtreatment, planting, nutrient management. He appealedthe participants to concentrate on irrigation as well aspollination and its impact on yield. Further he introducedwillingness of various seed companies to work inassociation with CAlM project. Mr. Rajesh Daware hasfocused on pest and disease management in onion. Headvised the farmers to avoid the spray of heavy insecticidesduring pollination phase. Representatives of privatecompanies have explained their policies of contractfarming of seed production. Farmers have positively raisedtheir queries during the session and interested farmers haveregistered their names for contract farming.

Participants expressed their satisfaction towardsactivities taken by CAlM and KVK to fulfil the needs oftechnical knowledge and market.

2014-15 bengalgram FLD farmers training programme wasorganized under Plant Protection Discipline ofKVK Karda atKVK campus on 27th October,20 14. The selected FLDfarmers from village Gobhani attended the programme as atrainee. The programme was inaugurated by the chairman ofCDC Lead crop project Shri. Narayanraoji Sable andMr.R.S.Daware (SMS Plant Protection and FLD in-charge)acts as a chief trainer.

After formal inauguration Mr.R.S.Daware in hisexpert guidance given the technological hints regarding toIntegrated Nutrient Management, Integrated PestManagement, Integrated Disease Management inBengalgram through powerpoint presentation. The Bio-fungicide and Bio- fertilizer seed treatment demonstration hasalso been given to the participants through their participatoryapproach. At the end oftechnical session various doubts andqueries raised by the farmers has been clarified byMr.R.S.Daware.

After technical session the farmers visited to SoilTesting Lab. and organic unit of the KVK. The participatingfarmers also shared their past experiences among themselvesfor higher productivity in Bengalgram.

Production of differentlow cost organic input isthe necessity of thisperiod. KVK hasestablished demonstrativemodel of organic inputproduction at its campus.The demonstrative modelinclude the production of

The basic objectives of the unit is to demonstrate theproduction technology of different organic input. Thevermicompost demonstration unit in addition todemonstrative model also working as a earthworm cultureunit. This earthworm culture unit also supply earthworm tothe farmer as per availability on cash basis. In order to providethe technological backstopping regarding to organiccertification this unit is working in this area since last 6 year.

Refinement activity is carrying out by the farmers

Under Plant Protection discipline KVK Karda hasundertaken technology refmement trial on pigeon pea podborer management during Kharif 2014-15 in the villageKoyali. The basic technological theme of the trial was thatfarmers preferred costlier pesticide for management of podborer in pigeon pea and this aspect has been incorporated as aFarmers practice (TI), Dr.PDKV recommended package oflPM is incorporated as a recommended practice (T2) and Onthe basis of farmers own past experiences and as per pre-approval de-topping of pigeon pea at 60 DAS alongwithregular recommended IPM package is incorporated as arefined practice (T3) in this trial. The trial is underimplementation and the results are awaited.

KVK using swaranant CRS for Mass spread ofagriculture technologies through community basedparticipatory approach of farmers and farm women. In orderto transfer the latest Agricultural technologies in locallanguage special programme has been designed in the nameof "ShetachyaBandhawar". In thisdramatizedprogramme in whichthe representative fromlocal communitydisscusses in locallanguage on the needbased topic of thatparticular period where Officers viewing the programmesone of the dramatized role of Guruji gives the technologicalinformation in simple language. The programme is beingappreciated by the local community and found for bettertransfer of agriculture technologies.

Beside "Shetachya Bandhawar" "Krishi Sandesh"," Telephonic help line programme" and advisories regardingprediction of weather, pest, diseases and market rates also

found verypopular amongthe listener ofCRS.

Shri Anantraoji Deshmukh launching 'Anant Seeds'

Launching ceremony of "ANANT SEEDS" a certifiedseedof Jaki -9218variety of Bengal gram produced under CAlMproject were conducted by the auspicious hands of Hon. ShriAnantraojiDeshmukh, Chariman, Suvide Foundation, KVK, on3'dNovember2014.

Dr.R.L.Kale, Programme Coordinator, District Manager,CAIM Mr. G.D. Chavan, Mr. Tambile, TAO Malegaon, Mr.Nivrutti Patil, SMS and Project lncharge, CAlM, and KVKScientistswerepresent for the programme along with members ofFarmers club. Seed Village Scheme (Gram Bijotpadan) wereimplemented in 4 villages i.e. Mop, Selu Khadse, Haral andKoyaliBu. of Risod cluster and Jodghavan of Malegoan clusterunder CAIM-Krushi Samruddhi Project. The programme wasimplemented through establishing Seed company of Farmersclubs.

Farmers club were formed in all 5 villages and registeredunder Deputy Director Registrar office and ATMA. Total 104farmerswere participated in the programme who cultivated thefoundationseed of JAKI-9218 variety of Bengal Gram seed on162acres. All necessary legal procedures was completed andfinally467quintal seed was processed and 1120bags of Bengalgramseedwereproduced under this programme.

Hon. Shri. Anantraoji Deshmukh expressed satisfactiontowardsthe production of quality seed for them and for marketalso.He also emphasized about the need and scope in the seedindustry. He motivated the farmers club to start Seed Companyandassuredallpossible support from theKVK.

Dr. R.L. Kale in his speech expressed the need andimportance of quality seed in agriculture. He insisted farmersgroupto open seed company, KVK is ready to support them astechnicalbackstopping.

In proceeding, Mr. Nivrutti Patil has explained about theobjectives of the Seed Village'- Scheme, the process fromFoundationto Certified seed production and to make quality seedavailable to farmers, entrepreneurship development and to setseedcompany of farmers in the programme. He assured tofannersthat the farmers club can earn around Rs. 12 to 14 lacksadditionalincome from this innovative activity. The proceedingand voteof thanks was offered by Mr.Nikhil Bali.

The programme was inaugurated byShri.R.S.Daware (SMS Plant Protection) and trainingCoordinator, in inaugural session Mr.R.S.Dawareinteracted with women participants regarding safe grainstorage at household level. by using Neem leaves, turmericpowder, black piper powder for safe storage of grain.

In technical session Mrs. S.N.Watane (ProgrammeAssistnt Home Science) introduced the women friendlyAgriculture tools like Bhendi Plucker, Cotton picking coat,double screen cleaner, sarai cooker etc and explained itsimportance. She told that the use ofthis technologies can bereduced drudgery, decreased health problem and increasedwork efficiency.

Valedictory function of the training programme washeld under the guidance of Shri.S.K.Deshmukh InchargeProgramme Coordinator KVK Karda. Sau. A.G.Kadam,Sau. A.V.Sarkate, Sau. Sandhya Samaik, Shri.BhagwanDeshmukh, Shri.Vitthal Sarkate took efforts for success ofprogramme. For this programme near about 100 to 125women participant were present.
