International Conference on Eating Disorders – Sydney 2020In 2020, for the first time, the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) is joining forces with the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) to hold a joint meeting, the International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED), in Sydney. We will be blending the best of both conferences, combining the high level of international expertise found at AED’s annual conferences with all the favourite aspects of our local ANZAED conferences. ICED 2020 will be a 3-day event, plus a Pre-Conference Clinical Training Day / Pre-Conference Research Day and post-conference workshops. The theme of the conference is “Taking a Different Perspective” – inspiring a fun and stimulating conference that does not shy away from courting tough conversations and debates, stepping outside of comfort zones to broaden horizons, and also encouraging critical reflection on the field. We are expecting 1,000 Australian and 1000 international visitors that will make this on-off event a wonderful opportunity to gain profile and align your organisation.

About ANZAEDThe Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) is the peak body for Eating Disorder professionals in Australia and New Zealand. ANZAED has over 300 members including Psychiatrists, General Medical Practitioners (GPs), Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, researchers and other related professionals from Australia and New Zealand. ANZAED conferences regularly bring these members and other eating disorder professionals together to participate in lectures, workshops and debates led by international and local experts in eating disorders treatment and research. ANZAED also hosts regular workshops and online training throughout the year.

The ConferenceANZAED are currently seeking partnerships with organisations that would like to align their profile with ANZAED activities, which include the annual conference, Autumn workshop series, online professional development and training as well as Member services. The international keynote speaker will be Professor Janet Treasure OBE PhD FRCP FRCPsych, is a British psychiatrist and director of the Eating Disorder Unit and Professor of Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, London. In early 2013 she was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Services to People with Eating Disorders. She has written several text books and has published around 300 peer-reviewed research articles. Her research mainly focusses on the relationship between disorder behaviour and the brain, with the overall aim of developing new treatments. This work has been carried out with patient input, often inspired by patients and their families, whilst also working with various international teams.
