The exhibition offered suppliers a place to showcase new and advanced technologies, products, and speak with manufacturers face-to-face. As Jeff Barnhart, executive director, ICMA, stated in his opening remarks, these formal face-to-face meetings and informal discussions have, over the years, helped to create mergers and acqui- sitions as well as facilitate many business partnerships. The EXPO kicked off with keynote speaker Jack Uldrich, a leading futurist. Uldrich impressed the audience with his knowledge of the card industry, crafting his presentation so that attendees began to think about the future of their businesses and about the future of the card industry in a different way. Uldrich broke down the traditional strategic thinking process so that the audience was able to look at disruptive technologies and other factors in a more decisive manner. The day continued with ICMA Founder Emeritus and Industry Advisor, Al Vrancart, presenting Global Card Market Trends and Forecasts: The Next Five Years, an intuitive look ahead at the trends in different market segments within the industry. Barry Mosteller of CPI Card Group gave the first Pop Up I ICMA’s 2015 EXPO celebrated our 25 th year as an association. Through the years, ICMA has brought outstanding education and networking to the card manufacturing industry. The EXPO continued this tradition and exemplified ICMA’s status within the industry. This year, attendees had the oppor- tunity to use ICMA’s new event app which allowed real-time access with the click of a finger to the agenda, speaker presentations, attendee list, exhibitor listings, speaker evaluations and live polling. The live polling became an attendee favorite as it allowed for greater interaction with the presenter and the rest of the audience. Also new this year were ICMA’s Pop Up Learning sessions. These new presentations gave attendees a quick burst of education that were sprinkled throughout the agenda. Topics ranged from industry-leading ideas to tips and tactics to help improve businesses.     formance metric standards that ICMA will have available

    for members of ICMA.

    Next, Karen Brooker of ABnote North America presented

    What You Need-to-Know about Gift/Loyalty Promotion

    Cards, and David Tushie, ICMA Standards Representative,

    spoke on Future Card Products, which took a look

    at new and upcoming products that will be used in

    card manufacturing. Monday also saw presentations

    from Anna Lopez of ICMA, speaking on The Impact of

    Social Media and how it should fit into each attendee’s

    business model, as well as Barry Mosteller speaking on

    process control for card manufacturers. The sessions

    ended with ICMA’s famed Speed Networking. Suppliers

    and manufacturers were paired together for a five-

    minute quick networking, making for fast and easy

    business connections that are sure to lead to future

    business partnerships. ICMA’s Block Party reception,

    sponsored by VFP Ink, took place on the Golf Island

    Green and featured great food, networking, and friendly

    games of glow golf which proved to be very popular

    among those that attended.

    Tuesday began with a Pop Up Session presented by

    Eitan Avni of SMARTRAC Technology Group speaking

    on how access control has become a dynamic market

    that continues to be a stronghold within the industry.

    Keith Yeates, president of Bristol ID Technologies and

    president of ICMA followed, educating attendees on

    tactics to help motivate and retain employees. Prior

    to lunch attendees were encouraged to participate

    in ICMA’s roundtable discussions. Another EXPO

    favorite, participants choose from five pertinent

    industry topics and engaged in lively discussions

    that helped to facilitate interactive thinking. Check

    out a future issue of Card Manufacturing for an

    article on the Roundtable Roundup. The afternoon

    allowed attendees to choose which track session

    they wished to follow in ICMA’s popular Your Focus

    sessions. Providing tracks on Personalization and

    Fulfillment and Card Manufacturing, speakers

    included Larry Brown of Pittsburgh Embossing Ser-

    vices, Brian Summerhayes of Barnes Interna tional,

    Tim Klabunde of Entrust Datacard, Eitan Avni of

    SMARTRAC Technology Group, Adam Lowe of

    CompoSecure, and Mitch DeYoung of SMARTRAC

    Technology Group.

    Tuesday ended with ICMA’s Élan Awards ceremony

    and dinner. ICMA awarded member companies

    for excellence in the card manufacturing industry.

    Tushie, ICMA Standards and Technical Representa-

    tive for his continued outstanding support of ICMA,

    Barry Mosteller of CPI Card Group for Outstanding

    Member Support and Alan Scott and Michael

    Swiecicki for their lifetime support of ICMA. Members

    showed off their wild West attire during our Wild

    Wild West Casino Night. Attendees sipped on themed

    cocktails sponsored by Apollo Colours, and showed

    off their betting skills while playing black jack,

    craps and poker.

    The EXPO concluded with Jörg Fischer

    of Bundesdruckerei, speaking about

    new technologies and advances in

    ID documents and the use of on-card

    fingerprint technology. Tony McGee of

    CPI Card Group followed and showcased

    different tactics to help manufacturers

    manage customer demands. Alan

    Fontanella of NBS Technologies finished

    the EXPO with an engaging session on

    Transaction Growth & Customer Loyalty

    through Mobile Application Development.

    New business connections and partner-

    ships were made while old ones were

    solidified. On behalf of ICMA, we thank

    Smart Card Alliance (SCA) in present-

    ing a co-located event that will bring

    together twice as many exhibitors and

    educational sessions, while still giving

    take place April 4-7 at the Loews Royal
