THE REAl DEAlTJ MAxx TO 14 WALLThe influx of retail to FiDi that everyone has been insisting is about to happen took some baby steps this week with midmarket bargain retailer TJ Maxx securing 32,000 feet of space on the bottom two floors of 14 Wall Street, at Broad. Darrell Rubens, senior managing director at Winick Realty, which represented the landlord, said TJ Maxx was “the first national brand retailer to move into the heart of FiDi,” adding that he believes others will not be far behind.-September 2011
BARBECUE TO MARRY BEER IN NEW YORK OBSERvER BUILdINGThe New York Observer Building at 321 West 44th Street will welcome the second of two new commercial tenants with the signing last week of a Japanese Barbeque restaurant at its base. The transaction comes on the heels of another deal in May that put the New York Beer Company in the same building, meaning a pub this fall. NEW YORk ObSERvERBROKER HAS IT IN THE BAGMitsosa Group, the high-end luggage retailer, has leased its second Manhattan location at 40 West 55th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The 1,150 s/f store is expected to open in late summer. “This is an ideal location for Mitsosa. There are many hotels nearby and the area is very much driven by tourists,” said Young Byunn, managing director at Winick Realty Group LLC, who represented Mitsosa in the 12-year lease transaction.-June 2011

WINICK REALTY BRINGS FUSHIMI RESTAURANT TO WILLIAMSBURGFushimi, an Asian fusion restaurant, has leased 7,200 square feet at 475 Driggs Ave. on the corner of North 10th Street. It is set to open in the next few months, according to Winick’s Diana D. Boutross, who represented both the restaurant and the ownership, Driggs Development, in the long-term lease transaction. Fushimi is the first commercial tenant in the building, according to Boutross, who said that it will serve its famous selection of sushi and Japanese specialties and will have an open bar situated under a 30-foot glass enclosed ceiling.-June 2011
