WHAT IS ICT?

According to Longman dictionary

INFORMATION is: facts or details that tell you something about a situation, person, event, etc: COMMUNICATION is: the process by which people

exchange informtion or express their thoughts and feeling

TECHNOLOGY is: new machines, equipment, and ways of doing things that are based on modem knowledge about science and computers

So ICT ( information and communication technology) is: macine, equipment or ways of giving or exchange fact or detail about a situation, person, event etc

WHY WE NEED ICT?

Imagine your self living in a jungle alone. No TV, telephone, electricity, internet, radio, satellite, friends to talk to just like the stone age period. How do you feel about it? Human being is a social creature, we must live and communicate each other. For that reason people invent many thing to ease their social needs.

Nowadays, people hardly live without ICT. It’s almost in every sectors of our live. Kitchen, bedroom, office, school, mosque, church, even open spaces like park pr street have available communication media.

Internet, TV, radio, telephone (mobile and fix line), newspaper are unavoidable source to our life.

Bussiness and pleasure runs smoothly with ICT.

That era’s socially acceptable view on marriage, smoking, race, and weapons are just some of the subjects used in the marketing activities in those times. While today we can laugh at most of these, some are not quite so innocuous and truly reflect the now outdated values of that time period.

ICT GADGET OR MEDIA Google Nexus OneGoogle’s Nexus is a speedy smart phone. It’s a intuitive handset having five customizable home screens with animated backgrounds. It also provides slick speech recognition capabilities. Nexus is now integrated with most of the software services provided by Google. Nexus One represent itself as a search giant’s first expansion in the world of e- commerce and hardware. Although that some well-publicized customer service issues come up with the device, still it remains among those ionic customer electronics which are at top of the list throughout the year.

RIM Blackberry PresenterAs many of you have already noticed that micro and mini projectors will be available soon. Manufactures like 3M, Microvision and other. Thank God this handy 3.4-inch x 2.4-inch boxlike accessory is designed, so that it can be used with BlackBerry smart phones. It is very simple in use. Users cartoon avatars automatically created by 3DS. It also enables users of 2DS for communication. With the help of tag mode, you are able to get the details of another user of 3DS, like you can come to know about the games he or she played last.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) encompasses all forms of electronic communication in both digital and analogue form. Digital electronic devices include computers, cellular telephony and satellite broadcasting. Analogue devices are largely confined to conventional radio broadcast technology and audio such as tape recorders. The Role of the ICT unit is to:

• Build and manage an appropriate ICT backbone infrastructure that will enable SAMSA to deliver on its mandate

• Make information available for decision making and Knowledge management

• Offer solutions and services that support SAMSA’s strategic direction

• Raise the status and understanding of ICT, the use and management of information in all sectors
