ABOUT ICT ACADEMY AT IIT KANPUR

ICT Academy is a joint initiative of the MeitY, Government of India and IIT Kanpur. The Academy endeavors to bridge the gap between the skills provided by the academia and those in demand by the industry, by training the teachers and students, thereby helping make students industry-ready. With training of teachers and students as the primary objective, ICT Academy has started reaching out to offer membership to a limited number of institutions. The membership benefits include

EICT Academy Institutional Membership We are inviting a limited number of higher educational institutions (Technical Universities, Engineering Colleges, Polytechnic and Arts & Science Colleges) to be a part of EICT Academy at IIT Kanpur thereby benefitting the faculty members and students through various initiatives of the Academy.

Membership Privileges

1. Train the Trainer / FDP Initiatives

To equip the faculty to train students with skills and knowledge as required by the industry, EICT Academy has made available a number of online courses based on latest technology. New courses are also being continuously developed.

• ICT Academy conducts online training programs and expert led workshops for the faculty members (and students).

• Faculty Development Programs of ICT Academy also make use of techniques and tools used by IIT Kanpur to teach computer science courses.

• While Swayam and NPTEL are some of the best resources for academic excellence, our focus is completely on increasing employability of students.

2. Enhance student skills for placements

The primary aim of ICT Academy at IIT Kanpur is to help improve the employability of students. Hence the academy has made available course modules on various domains which are in demand by the industry. The programs include both Technical and Soft Skills course modules, with emphasis on hands-on skills.

• The courses have been developed in consultation with the Industry experts. • The courses are offered primarily in online mode with an option to conduct some courses in offline mode. • ICT Academy can also help provide industry certification at a subsidized cost.

4. Membership certificate and your institute logo on ICT platform, IITK

ICT Academy shall not only provide you with an online dashboard to monitor the progress of faculty and students on various course, but also create a separate page highlighting the member institute.

The member institute shall also be issued a membership certificate that can be prominently displayed in your institution.

The logo of the member institute shall also be used on the ICT Academy website.

3. Member institutes can publish online courses on ICT Academy portal

ICT Academy shall work collaboratively to help interested faculty of the member institution create MOOCs courses and host them on the ICT platform.

6. Conference Collaboration

ICT Academy at IIT Kanpur shall support its member institutions in conducting conferences, workshops and seminars at both national and International levels in the areas of ICT.

• ICT Academy shall make available a platform developed at IIT Kanpur for conference management at subsidized rates.

• This initiative can bring together the experts from industry, academia, government and R & D organizations to discuss and share their expertise on the conference topics and themes.

5. ICT Academy Events

ICT Academy organizes various hackathons and other events with an objective of exposing the students and academia to the industry and help benchmark their performance. Through these events, ICT Academy creates a platform for its member institutions to not only interact, collaborate and work closer with the industry and each other but also for students to benchmark their performance.

• ICT Academy would invite its member institutions to participate in all its events at a subsidized special member fee.

7. Corporate Partnership Programs

ICT Academy at IIT Kanpur helps facilitate its member institutions in obtaining resources through its corporate partnership with the leading technology companies.

• The member institutions can avail the resources like software, web contents, tools and learning materials, as a part of the corporate partnership. *

• ICT Academy can also help the member institutions gain independent access to various resources provided by the corporates for academic endeavors. *

*Each individual corporate program is governed by the specific terms and conditions set by the corporate company.

8. Assistance with becoming a better coder (with Prutor / ILMS)

Prutor / ILMS is a proprietary technology developed at IIT Kanpur by Dr. Amey Karkare and integrated very closely with the ICT Platform. It supports technologies like C / C++, Python, HTML, JavaScript, Angular Js etc. out of the box. It is now trademarked, developed and maintained by an IITK incubate company.

ICT Academy along with its partner institutions and incubate companies uses Prutor / ILMS to train students to become better coders and over time gain enough skills to compete effectively in coding competitions, hackathons and coding tests for jobs. The students start gaining an edge from first year itself, by practicing on a platform that is very similar to one used in these events.

Prutor is in use at IIT Kanpur, IIT Mumbai, IIT Goa, IISC Bangalore, IISER Bhopal and 50+ other institutions.

9. Run your own tests / computer labs online (with Prutor / ILMS)

The membership entitles you to upload your own problems, multiple choice questions and conduct your own internal test online using Prutor. It already comes with a question bank in some subject areas, that can be enhanced by your own faculty and used for conducting paperless exams.

Prutor also allows you to run your own computer lab (in multiple languages) completely online. Even the oldest hardware can be used to teach most modern computer languages.

10. Assistance with internship / placements (with Prutor / ILMS)

ICT Academy has partnered with a number of institutions and its incubate companies to not only assist in interview preparation, resume refinement but also assist students of member institutions with internship and placements.

The prutor profile of students is made available to our partners who can evaluate the candidates for internship, and placements.
