introductionThe NOTIFIER ID2000 intelligentfire alarm panel offers atechnically sophisticated range offacilities and functions whilstremaining easy to install, programand operate. The ID2000 has been3rd party-certified to the currentEN54 standard Parts 2 and 4.

Advanced design andmanufacturing techniques coupledwith NOTIFIER’s experience of over50 years at the forefront of thefire industry, ensure that theID2000 sets new standards inmany areas such as productfunctionality, flexibility, userfriendliness and reliability.

A full range of intelligent sensors,advanced detection products,input and output devices,repeaters, mimic drivers, printersand other peripherals complementthe ID2000. The ID2000 panel canbe networked to extend the totalcapacity of the system for largerapplications. The ID2000 has beendesigned to operate withNOTIFIER’s ID1000 and ID3000intelligent fire alarm panels innetworking configurations,allowing for upgrades andextensions to existing sites.

The modular design of the ID2000offers solutions for a wide rangeof applications, facilitatinginstallation and servicing whilemaking it very easy for the ID2000to be tailored to the requirementsof the application.

The NOTIFIER ID2000 intelligentfire alarm panel is ideally suited toa broad range of applications suchas shopping malls, schools, officebuildings, hospitals, hotels,factories and large warehouses.

With its expansion capability theID2000 provides control of 2 to 8loops, with each loop having acapacity of 198 devices (99 sensorsand 99 modules). The modulardesign of the ID2000 allows theuser to configure the panel totheir exact applicationrequirements. Three sizes ofpower supplies are available (2.5A,4.5A and 7A) to cater for theneeds of small, medium and largesystems. Internal and external

printer options, a variety ofmounting options and theoptional loop and communicationexpansion modules all provide ahigh degree of flexibility duringinitial design with a ready-madeexpansion path for the future.

The simple, menu–driven, userinterface brings full systemmonitoring and control functionsto the fingertips of the systemoperator. Zone status LEDs areprovided for up to 16 zones.Further zone status indicator LED’scan be added for up to 80 zonesper panel to give the useradditional status indicators.

configuration

The NOTIFIER ID2000 is a fully on-site programmable intelligent firealarm panel. It can beprogrammed from the panelkeypad or from a personalcomputer using the off-lineconfiguration tool.

An "Auto-Learn" facility allowsthe user to install and commissiona standard system with theminimum of effort. If a morecomplex "Cause & Effect" matrix isrequired, the ID2000 may beprogrammed to meet individualsite requirements by means ofpowerful "Control By Event" (CBE)rules. Using CBE rules, site-specificrequirements such as plant

shutdown, fire door control,smoke control, phased evacuation,point/zone isolation, point-to-output controls and many otherscan be programmed with relativeease. Devices can be grouped into80 zones per panel for control andmonitoring purposes.Furthermore, the CBE rules can beinitiated and combined throughflexible time programs.

The ID2000 can be programmed tocompensate for the differences inthe use of the areas where thesmoke sensors are used. A total of9 different sensitivity levels can beassigned to individual smokesensors, thereby allowing thesystem designer to closely matchthe sensor’s response to theenvironment in which it is located.Using time programs, differentsensitivity settings can be selectedat different times of the day. Forexample, to avoid false alarms,smoke sensor sensitivity can belowered during the day when ameeting room is likely to be usedby smokers and returned to a highsensitivity during the night timewhen the premises are unoccupied.

System security and integrity is animportant aspect of the ID2000. Thecover of the ID2000 cannot beremoved without a special tool andan optional tamper switch can beinstalled to protect againstunauthorised cover removal. Inaddition, two levels of Passwordprotection makes it virtuallyimpossible for unauthorised peopleto access the panel and its manualcontrols to change the systemconfiguration. All configurationdata is retained in non-volatilememory and is, therefore, protectedagainst complete failure of themains and backup power supplies.

networking

Where multiple control panels arerequired, the ID2000 intelligentfire alarm panels may becombined in a network of up to 8panels giving a maximum systemcapacity of 64 loops with a totalof 12,672 points. In the event of anetwork failure all control panelswill resume normal local operationin stand-alone mode.

The ID2000 network is an RS485serial data link which can support upto 32 network stations, comprisingfire control panels, IDR2A and IDR2Prepeaters and/or mimic drivers. Upto a maximum of 8 stations can beID2000 control panels. The networksupports general control functionssuch as Reset, Silence, Mute,Evacuate and more specific functionssuch as Zone Isolate, Walk Test, ZoneEvent Broadcast and Control byEvent (CBE) across the network. Fullsystem monitoring and control iseasily achieved from the maincontrol panel.

The ID2000 network is compatiblewith NOTIFIER’s ID1000 andID3000 intelligent fire controlpanels. However, if an ID2000panel is connected to an ID1000network, there will be some

network does not support all of

the ID2000 functionality.

If connected to an ID3000

network, the ID2000 will not

support all of the functionality

offered by the ID3000.

mountingoptions

A wide variety of mounting

options is available with the

ID2000. The basic back-box

options (standard, single extended

and double extended) with

matching bezels lend themselves

to surface mounting and flush

mounting respectively. A full

range of 19-inch rack mounting

assemblies address the needs of

more industrial-type installations.

As with all other ID series

intelligent fire alarm panels from

NOTIFIER, the ID2000 comes in the

Black/Grey NOTIFIER colour as

standard. A light grey cover and

bezel option with a high–quality,

’velvet imitation’ finish and a

stainless steel cover , with optional

bezel, offering clean, bright looks

are also available for more

architecturally-challenging sites.

In areas where visibility is

important or where local codes

require, the full range of back-

boxes, covers and bezels are also

available in red.

The modular, 19-inch rack-mounting range combines theindustrial versatility of 19-inchrack mounting with theaesthetically pleasing appearanceof the ID Series fire control panels.A combination of 3U and 6U sizemounting assemblies is availablefor the various modules.

repeater &mimic driveroptionsThe IDR Series repeaters andmimic drivers complement the IDSeries intelligent fire alarm panels.By placing repeaters and/orgraphical mimic display panels atstrategic points in the facility -such as nurse stations, floorlandings, gatehouse or controlrooms - valuable time can besaved when identifying thelocation of a fire and/orevacuating the building.

The IDR Series repeater panelscombine a compact design with a

2 x 40 character LCD. The LCDreplicates the display on theID2000 fire control panel, andadopts the same, simple, menu-driven user interface. The controlbuttons and navigation keys onthe repeaters enable the operatorto easily navigate through themenu options and event displays.The nine LED indicators providethe user with a quick summary ofthe general system status. Thecompact design of the repeatersmakes them very easy to installand commission. Unlikeconventional repeaters, the IDRseries store event information ofup to 150 events, therefore,making commissioning very easy.Two models are available:

a) IDR2A active repeater:

The IDR2A active repeater mimics

the LCD & LED status indications

on the main fire alarm panel and

allows the operator to control the

system via push-buttons such as

Mute Buzzer, Accept, Evacuate,

Silence Sounders, Resound

Sounders and Reset. The IDR2A

has built-in configuration and

standard test functions such as

Edit Normal Message, Lamp Test,

LCD Test and Buzzer Test. The

IDR2A repeater also has Power

Diagnostics and a Push-button

Test option.

b) IDR2P passive repeater

The IDR2P passive repeater is anindication-only module with nocontrols. The LCD and commonsystem LEDs reflect the statusindication of the fire alarmcontrol panel. The IDR2P has thesame configuration and standardtest functions described for theIDR2A module.

The Mimic Driver consists of themain mimic control unit and up to8 mimic drivers. The mimic driverkit consists of a mimic driverboard and two termination boardsfor field wiring and has 64 open-collector drivers for LEDs. Themain mimic control unit supportsup to 8 mimic driver kitsconnected in a "daisy chain"arrangement, to provide a total of512 outputs per mimic.

The mimic driver board also has 8programmable digital inputs/outputs. These inputs/outputs canbe programmed to performvarious functions such as LampTest, Reset and Accept or to driverelays.

The main mimic control unit canbe programmed, using the on-board DIP switches, for simple

zone fire/fault indication. The DIPswitches can be set-up for "fireonly" or "fire and fault"indication on the mimic display.

The Windows™-based IDRconfiguration tool allows morecomplex mimic display "Cause &Effect" tables to be easilyprogrammed into the maincontrol unit.

graphicaldisplay andcontrol system

The ID2000 is fully compatiblewith the UniNet-ID™ graphicssystem. This allows up to twohundred ID2000 systems to beconnected to a single UniNet-ID™server. Up to 10 servers can also benetworked together, usingstandard TCP/IP protocol, toprovide a single system gatewayto a large ID2000 system.

UniNet-ID™ is the next generationin advanced technology to monitorand control fire and other facilityinformation over a LonWorks™network. The LonWorks™ networksupports a variety of networktopologies and media (wire, fibre-optic, etc.) and is an industrystandard, open architecture.

The UniNet-ID™ WorkstationSoftware provides the operatorinterface to the UniNet-ID™System. The workstation featuresstandardised plug-in applications,to allow continued expansion ofworkstation and networkfunctions. These applications canadd new features to thesoftware, implement featuresspecific to certain devices, oreven add situation and facilityspecific features.

The ID2000 plug-in provides theuser with complete control overall points in the system andincludes: Accepted, Silence,Resound, Reset, Disable Zone,Enable Zone, Disable Device,Enable Device, Test Zone,Terminate Test & Evacuate.

The UniNet-ID™ also allows acombination of these functions tobe added together in a ‘Macro’.This allows the system provider tocustomise the workstation toprovide functions, such as disablemultiple plant shut downs, from asingle, push button. All functionscan be disabled at various securityaccess levels.

The workstation uses Microsoft®

Windows® 2000 to provide aneasy-to-use and easy-to-learngraphical user interface. Theoperator is presented with aconsistent look and operation forall monitored equipment. Theworkstation features customer-configurable screens and allows awide variety of configurationoptions for any situation.
