Often, we create some preliminary breadboard prototypes at a very early stage, for design validationresearch that help orientate the study to explore ways in which we could introduce meaningful innovation. By doing so, we also identify problems upfront, resulting in time saved at the end of the studies

We generate and explore with the team different solutions that meet our defined goals. We then translate the specific requirements and opportunities into conceptual design solutions. Configurations, features, etc are explored then rendered.

Ideation and Creativity

Page 17: IDDI - BACKSTAGE Presentation Part 1 - 2015

Successful Products through Design and Innovation

Design is much more than just exciting looks, it is a great fit between end users and the objects they choose to surround themselves with. How consumers feel, think, and interact with a product will ultimately define its success. Therefore, we observe, brainstorm, conceptualize, suggest new features, and create products that connect with the consumer on arational and emotional level. Meaningful products excite, encourage ownership, and build strong brands.

Industrial Design

The process incorporates safety regulations in the earliest stages of a product's development to insure that the emerging design will fulfill all requirements earlier than later in development to minimize the risks, and these constraints are also used as design opportunities.

Regulations

Page 18: IDDI - BACKSTAGE Presentation Part 1 - 2015

We evaluate the design concepts and transform the most promising solutions into a concrete and fully-detailed design that meets the client's defined goal. Conflicts imposed by functional, ergonomic, and marketing requirements are resolved as the final solution takes shape. User research may be conducted to validate the acceptance and viability of the emerging designs.

HumanFactors

Page 19: IDDI - BACKSTAGE Presentation Part 1 - 2015

Based on the determined industrial design, it is now time to proceed with ergonomic and functional models to experience and evaluate emerging solutions. Detailed visual models and fully functional engineering prototypes evaluate form, fit, function, and user acceptance prior to finalization, specs freezing and manufacturing release.

Prototyping & Design Validation

Above, an example of some testing session with a report, then for a coffee maker in the center and a juice extractor at the right

We are testing the concepts with end-users in mind.. and lots of common sense

We use CNC, SLA, FDM etc machines to create life-like prototypes

Once concepts have been approved, the next stage is to finalize engineering details and design for manufacture and assembly, to ensure fit, function and performance.

This is usually also the time to select suitable manufacturers and obtain production prices. Together with the manufacturing partner, the fine-tuned engineering drawings are made and a prototype testing and review program is started. The output of this part of the development process would be the production information required for manufacture of the tooling and production of parts.

Final product Production and shipment

Product development expands beyond design into project management and the management of the manufacturing stages. We are able to fully support clients from prototypes through to mass productionand assists with validating tooling and following-up pre-production and production phases. We can also review with the manufacturing partner (s?) all regulatory requirements to ensure that all standards are met (including product testing and validation programs).
