iWave harnesses TI’s new

Sitara ARM MPUs to create

robust solutions

Texas Instruments (TI) recenty introduced the

new AM389x Sitara ARM MPUs, that dramatically

boost performance and integration. The MPUs offers,

single-core ARM Cortex-A8 with performance at up to

1.5 GHz. These MPUs enable faster end products that

include network connectivity, graphical user

interfaces and display capabilities and the ability to

run multiple applications simultaneously for multiple

operating systems, such as Linux, Microsoft®

Windows® Embedded Compact 7 and Android.

iWave has been quick to untether the potential of the

Sitara AM389x and has exploited the fact that

AM389x provides high speed connectivity through

PCIe between the host system and FPGA. The FPGA

provides I/O expansion capacities for multiple Storage

controllers, including SDXC. In an application being

developed for a client, iWave has created a testing

platform that will find wide use in video processing,

networked storage etc.

Silverlight for Windows Embedded Compact 7 in i.MX53 development platform Seetharam Nayak seeth [email protected]

Silverlight for Windows Embedded is a native (C++) UI development framework for Windows Embedded Compact devices that is based on Microsoft Silverlight 3. It is interoperable with Microsoft Expression Blend 3. It provides tools to generate template application code that is based on Expression Blend 3 XAML projects. The programming model in Silverlight for Windows Embedded provides a visual host that hosts a Silverlight visual tree in a Microsoft Win32 window. To handle UI events, you can attach C++ delegates to UI objects through methods that are available on various classes in the C++ API. With Silverlight for Windows Embedded, you can create a Silverlight application for an embedded device, create and add custom user controls to your application, add Win32 controls to your application, and support hardware-accelerated graphics in the OS. Silverlight provides a retained mode graphics system similar to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and integrates multimedia, graphics, animations and interactivity into single runtime environment. In Silverlight applications, user interfaces are declared in Extensible Application Mark-up Language (XAML) and programmed using a subset of the .NET Framework. XAML can be used for marking up the vector graphics and animations. Silverlight can also be used to

create Windows.Sidebar gadgets for Windows

Vista.Silverlight supports H.264 video, Windows Media Video (WMV) without using media player provided by the Windows. A Silverlight project contains the Silverlight.js and CreateSilverlight.js files which initializes the Silverlight plug-in for use in HTML pages, a XAML file for the UI and code-behind files for the application code. Silverlight applications are debugged in a manner similar to ASP.NET applications. Visual Studio's CLR Remote Cross Platform Debugging feature can be used to debug Silverlight applications running on a different platform as well. Sample Silverlight application: One sample Silverlight application that we developed for iWave i.MX53 WinCE 7 platform is as follows: iWave i.MX53 is a development platform based on Freescale’s i.MX53 processor with ARM cortex A8 core built with multimedia in mind. It is a development platform and it can be used for the development of applications. iWave has successfully ported WinCE 7 in i.MX53 board. Silverlight is an add-on tool which comes with the WinCE 7 that iWave has ported into i.MX53 board. Here we go with an application that is developed for i.MX53 board:

1. This application has an image of i.MX53 board and iWave’s official logo and three Silverlight buttons. 2. Expression Blend 3 is used for the development. 3. When the application is deployed in the i.MX53 board, the LCD of the platform looks like the snap shot on this page. There is an iWave official logo in the middle and two buttons in the either end of the main image and a button in the top right corner. 4. The logo will disappear when the right button is pressed .And the logo will appear back when the left button is pressed.

launches: #1 in industry

with Android 4.0 & Qt

demos on Freescale’s

i.MX6x quad core chip

The Embedded World 2012 exhibition and Conference in Nuremberg, Germany saw iWave’s triumphant demonstration of its innovation and speed to market. iWave was number one in the industry with the first quad core solution for Freescale’s i.MX6x multimedia ARM Cortex A9 1 GHz Dual/Quad core processor, harnessing it to deliver multipler system-on-modules powered by the latest Android 4.0 and Qt cross-platform application framework.

The excellent traction for the i.MX6x platform with OEMs and potential partners was capped by a new partnership sealed at the event, with Lyons, France-headquartered Adeneo Embedded, a specialist system integrator focused on complete 32-bit embedded systems.
