Do I need qualifications before I start?
For most ICS courses you don't need any previous qualifications,experience or knowledge.
How long will my course take?
It’s up to you. After all, you set your own pace – though most studentscomplete their course within a year. It also partly depends on the courseyou take.
What makes home learning different?
In a word, flexibility. All our courses are made up of bite-sized modulesthat you work through at your own pace.
How does it work?
As the end of each unit, you fill in a test paper online or complete anassessment and send it to your tutor for marking and comments. Youonly ever move on to a new module when you feel ready, and when you’vesuccessfully completed the previous one. So you get real proof of yourprogress.
Do I have to do it all on my own?
We give you all the support you need. Withall our paper-based courses, you have aTutor who’s experienced in helpingstudents just like you. They’ll mark andcomment on your work, give you feedback,and answer any queries. You also haveaccess to our ICS Student Advisors forpractical help. Plus, our online StudentCommunity means you can take part inforum discussions, complete surveys andmanage your account.

A. GENERAL TERMS APPLICABLE TO ALL CUSTOMER AGREEMENTS1. Definitions
In this Agreement unless otherwise stated:
(i) “Distance Learning Package” shall mean the course(s) identified overleafand all related Materials, support and tuition where applicable;
(ii) “Materials” shall mean the learning materials and books for the DistanceLearning Package or any part of them (and shall include any replacementtraining materials and books in the event that you transfer Distance LearningPackage in accordance with Clause 5);
(iii) Your “Support Period” depends on which course you choose to study andwill be between one and three years unless otherwise stated in your coursematerials.
(iv) singular words shall include the plural and vice versa; and(v) headings are included for convenience only and shall not affect the
construction or interpretation of this Agreement.
2. Payments(i) We agree to sell and you agree to buy the Distance Learning Package for the
Total Cost/Total Cash Price on the terms set out on this page and overleaf(ii) Under no circumstances shall we be deemed to have received payment until
payment has actually been received by us in full.
3. Care of the Materials(i) We will reserve all the Materials in your name and store them at the ICS
Learning Centre.(ii) We will release the Materials to you in compact learning units as you
progress through the Distance Learning Package to enable you to worksystematically through the core material.
(iii) You will inspect each set of materials promptly following delivery. You will tellus about any omission as soon as it is reasonably possible.
4. Services(i) During the Support Period, we will provide you with support and tuition as set
out in the Materials.(ii) If requested, we may at our sole discretion, extend the Support Period for an
agreed fee.(iii) If you are sitting an external examination at the end of your Distance
Learning Package, we will provide you with such information as we have inour possession to assist you in making such examination arrangements. Inall other respects, you will be solely responsible for making arrangements toenable you to sit the examination and for any and all fees in relation thereto.
(iv) If we, at our sole discretion, assist you in making your examinationarrangements by providing you with information about the time and locationof local examinations or reserving an examination place for you, youacknowledge that we shall not be responsible for any losses incurred by youas a result of inaccurate information provided in connection with any sucharrangements except such losses, excluding business losses, caused by ourfailure to act with reasonable care and skill.
5. ICS Course Transfer Facility(i) If you wish to transfer to a different course, we may at our sole discretion
agree to such transfer.(ii) Unless you are paying under a Credit Agreement, if we agree that you may
transfer to a different course, we will transfer the fees paid for the DistanceLearning Package you wish to discontinue towards the amount payable forthe new course PROVIDED THAT we receive payment from you for thebalance of fees due in respect of the new course (if more expensive than thediscontinued Distance Learning Package) and a £75 transfer fee to cover ourtuition and/or administrative costs.
6. Warranties and Limitation of Liability(i) We warrant that the Materials will be of satisfactory quality but do not
warrant that the Materials will be error free.(ii) We warrant that we will perform any services provided hereunder with
reasonable skill and care.(iii) We intend to rely on the written terms set out here and on the other side of
this document. If you require any changes, please ensure you ask for theseto be put in writing. In that way, we can avoid any problems surrounding whatwe, and you, are expected to do.
(iv) Other than in respect of liability for death or personal injury arising from ournegligence, we shall not be liable for:(a) losses that were not foreseeable to both parties when this Agreement
was made;(b) losses that were not caused by any breach on our part; or(c) business losses and/or losses to non-consumers.
(v) Subject to Clause 6(vi) and 14, if you have elected overleaf to take our damagecover plan, we will replace free of charge any Materials which areaccidentally lost, damaged or stolen during [the Support Period].
(vi) All claims under Clause 6 must:(a) be submitted to ICS in writing:(b) itemise the Materials which need to be replaced: and(c) be made within 14 days of the damage occurring.
7. Other Terms(i) No relaxation or indulgence which we may extend to you shall affect our
rights under this Agreement.(ii) If any part of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable the remaining terms
and conditions shall continue in force.(iii) All liabilities or obligations arising under this Agreement shall be
enforceable against you after termination of this Agreement.(iv) You will notify us immediately of any change in the address specified overleaf.
Any notices required to be served under this Agreement, or in accordancewith the Act will be deemed properly served if sent by way of prepaid firstclass post to your last known address.
(v) This Agreement shall be governed and construed in accordance with thelaws of [Scotland] and you hereby agree to submit to the non-exclusivejurisdiction of the [Scottish Courts].
B. ADDITIONAL NON CREDIT TERMS9. Payment
(i) You will submit payment with this enrolment form of the price payable by themethod you have indicated on the enrolment form.
10. Cancellation(i) Your statutory right under the consumer protection (Distance Selling)
Regulations 2000, allows you seven working days from the day after receiptof materials in which to make a written request for cancellation. Unless theparties have agreed otherwise, you will not have the right to cancel by givingnotice of cancellation for the supply of computer software if they areunsealed by you or for the supply of online courseware which has beenaccessed by you.
C. ADDITIONAL CREDIT AGREEMENT TERMS11. Payment
(i) You will pay the Deposit shown overleaf in section B of the Credit Agreementand the Balance Payable by the instalments and on the dates specifiedoverleaf in the Credit Agreement.
(ii) In respect of all sums payable under the Credit Agreement, punctualpayment shall be of the essence.
(iii) If you fail to comply with any terms of this Agreement, we shall be entitled torecover from you the reasonable costs and losses incurred by us as a resultof locating you, communicating with you and collecting any unpaid sums.Such sums are payable on demand. In the event of legal action for breach ofpayment, you will be responsible for all costs allowable by the court if anaward is made in our favour.
12. Discretionary Waiver(i) If, at any time during the course of the Credit Agreement, you notify us that
you no longer wish to pursue the Distance Learning Package we may, in ourabsolute discretion, agree to waive our rights to the sums payable underClause 13(ii) upon payment by you of all sums due under Clause 13(ii)(a) andan administration fee of £60, upon condition that you waive all rights todelivery of any and all Materials which we have not yet released to you inaccordance with Clause 3(ii) and you assign to us all title and interest in suchMaterials.
(ii) If you wish to be considered for a discretionary waiver, you should contact usby letter or telephone.
13. Termination(i) If:
(a) you fail to pay any amount due under this Agreement;(b) you breach any of the other terms and conditions, express or implied,
of the Credit Agreement; or(c) any information provided by you in the making of this Agreement
proves to be incomplete or inaccurate, we shall be entitled, after theexpiry of a Default Notice served on you in terms of the ConsumerCredit Act 1974, to terminate this Agreement.
(ii) If this Credit Agreement is terminated you will pay us the unpaid balance ofthe Balance Payable, less any applicable rebate, plus all expenses, chargesand costs in accordance with Clause 11(iii).
14. Warranty(i) ICS shall not be obliged to replace free of charge any Materials pursuant to
Clause 6(vi) if any monthly instalments or other sums are due and unpaidunder this Agreement as at the date of the claim.
