Why a Research Paper? 1.) Refine our writing skills before
entering college. Research papers will be assigned in college and
the professor will already expect the students to be proficient in
this skill. 2.) The research paper will strengthen public speaking
skills. Through the writing of a research paper the student will
learn the value of constructing an argument and backing up that
argument with relevant facts and data. When speaking in front of a
large or small group, whether in a formal or informal setting, it
is important to speak with confidence, articulating your points.
3.) Students will be exposed to topics they may not have been aware
of You may be introduced to people or events that could enhance a
thematic or DBQ essay in the future. Moreover, you may be learn
about a topic that may spark a greater interest in history.
