If Roses grow in Heaven

Lord, please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Mother's arms

and tell her they're from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek

and hold her for awhile.

Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day,

but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away.

Eva Mae Mitchell Kennedy was born on November 9, 1943 in Columbia,

South Carolina to the late Willie Ethel Mitchell Howard and the late

Pryelo Mitchell. She peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home on

October 12, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Eva was educated in the Richland County Public Schools. She was a

“wonderful” full-time wife and a “sweet” stay at home mother. She also

was a faithful member of Haskell Heights Progressive Baptist Church.

Eva was well known for her love of her children, grands and great-

grands. She loved live plants, shopping and people watching in the

malls. She also enjoyed watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”

every single night.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Kennedy, Sr.; mother,

Willie Ethel Mitchell Howard; father, Pryelo Mitchell; sisters, Carrie

Louise Wyder and Willie Mae Taylor and brothers, Edward Mitchell and

Isaac Mitchell.

Cherishing her memories are her children, Carmon Pugh of Columbia,

SC, Dale Edward Mitchell of Atlanta, GA, Jasper Kennedy Jr. (Varonica),

Glenda McLeod (Darryl) and Rosalind Glenn (Christopher) all of

Columbia, SC; one sister, Audrey Greene (Anthony) of Hephzibah, GA;

one brother, Pryelo Mitchell of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law Robert

Taylor of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren,

and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and

friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
