• This occurred when “...many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized” - Acts 18:8

blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” - Ephesians 1:7

• “Redemption” Defined…from Greek word apolutrosis• Vine - “a releasing, for (i.e., on payment of) a ransom.” (c) …Eph. 1:7,

defined as “the forgiveness of our trespasses” - RV• Strong - “…(the act) ransom in full, i.e. (figuratively) riddance, or

(specially) Christian salvation:--deliverance, redemption”

You’re Reconciled• Paul taught that we are reconciled “in one body…”

• “And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby” - Ephesians 2:16

• “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight” - Colossians 1:20-22

• “Reconciled” Defined…• Vine - “properly denotes ‘to change, exchange’ (especially of money);

• Not a miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit• One receives the gift the Holy Spirit gives - Salvation!

You’re Added to the Lord’s Church• Believers in Acts were added to the Church…

• “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” - Acts 2:47, vs. 41

• One becomes a member of the Lord’s church when he is “...baptized into one body” - 1 Corinthians 12:13

• As a Christian and member of the Lord’s body, you now have the responsibility and privilege to…• Labor in the Lord’s vineyard - 1 Corinthians 15:58; 3:9• Worship in His temple - Philippians 3:3; John 4:24

You Obtain an Inheritance• Paul wrote to the Ephesians…

• “In whom (in Christ) also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will” • Ephesians 1:11

• Peter described this inheritance as…• “...an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth

not away, reserved in heaven for you” - 1 Peter 1:4• It is assured to those who are faithful and abide in Christ!

• Paul wrote…• “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who

hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” - Ephesians 1:3

• Since all spiritual blessings are “in Christ,” how many of these blessing are found outside of Christ?

You Have the Hope and Promise of Eternal Life

• Paul wrote about the hope and the promise…• “In hope of eternal life which God, that cannot lie, promised

before the world began” - Titus 1:2

• “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ ” - 2 Timothy 1:1

• The hope and promise of eternal life is “in Christ”• “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,

and this life is in his Son” - 1 John 5:11

• “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus”• Galatians 3:26

• “For” defined…from the Greek word “gar” …• Strong - “primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument,

explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.”

• The reason why they are “children of God” is stated in vs. 27• “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on

Christ”

• We are one or the other - no middle ground…• A child “of God” - Galatians 3:26; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:10; 5:2• Or a “child of the devil” - Acts 13:10; John 8:44; 1 John 3:8, 10
