Wyandotte's new propylene oxide plant provides new capacity, to assure ample supply of this basic raw material for the growing needs of our customers within the foreseeable future.

RIGHT FROM THE START, WYANDOTTE HAS COME UP WITH THE ANSWERS IN OXIDES

While oxide chemistry still has all the excitement of a new growth area, there's nothing new about it at Wyandotte.

We started working with oxides 20 years ago! In 1943, as part of our war effort, we began re

search into the synthesis of allyl alcohol from propylene glycol. And we achieved it.

Other achievements followed. Out of our work with block-polymers came our Pluronic® series of nonionic surface-active agents—the first block-polymers to be used commercially. Then came our Pluracol® polypropylene glycols—and, with them the breakthrough in polyether-based urethane foams. A monopropellant for missiles followed. Antifoams, vapor-phase rust inhibitors, a new

polyol to control the viscosity of nonflammable hydraulic fluids.

Our extensive background in oxide chemistry, together with the long line of polyols offered, puts us in an excellent position to provide custom ethoxylation and propoxylation services to others. This service is available at both our Wyandotte, Mich., and Washington, N.J., plants. In inquiring, please state type of molecule required, specifications, approximate tonnage desired, and proposed delivery points.

Meaning to you? . . . just this. If your problem involves oxide chemistry, you'll find people at Wyandotte who talk your language. Try us, and see. Fill in and mail the coupon below.

CAN WYANDOTTE OXIDE PRODUCTS ADD TO YOUR PROFITS? How is our oxide products business? Great and growing!

Currently we are manufacturing more than forty different, individual oxide products (and more are on the way). They're being used in many different industries for a wide variety of end uses.

One of these . . . the urethane industry . . . can look to Wyandotte for the longest line of polyols developed especially for its use.

We're working day in and day out on extending polymer application into new areas . . . on effecting the reaction of oxides with other compounds. We have expanded production facilities; left plenty of room for growth. In short, we're ready for the coming boom in oxides.

Why? Because of Wyandotte's long interest and experience in oxide chemistry, quality of product offered and the fine acceptance of these products in the rapidly expanding and increasingly vital oxide chemical f ield.

Modern plant facilities and exceptional manufacturing skills at both Wyandotte, Michigan (top) and Washington, New Jersey (above) insure consistently uniform formulation regardless of which plant produces the product. This is particularly important to buyers of polyols for urethanes. These two plant locations also assure faster, dependable service to users of our Pluronic and Pluracol polyols and other oxide products.

Applications Research Laboratories . . . Urethanes. Four words explain the dedicated purpose of this building—one of the nation's largest laboratory facilities devoted exclusively to urethanes. Here, a team of urethane specialists, working with a complete range of the latest research equipment necessary for the development and refinement of urethane chemicals, are continually producing urethane products for testing purposes. The idea and the ideal are one: to enable this great and growing industry to make higher quality urethane products at practical costs.
