OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE 2015 SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER IFSC CLIMBING WORLD CUP WUJIANG 2015: ADAM ONDRA & JAIN KIM: 2014 LEAD WORLD CHAMPIONS ON TOP OF THE PODIUM IN WUJIANG The IFSC Speed World Cup Series 2015 wrapped up in Wujiang, China with a dual Lead and Speed competition that saw some amazing performances! The “Capital of Silk” was in the spotlight this weekend as the world’s best Lead and Speed climbers gathered to compete in one of the last IFSC World Cups of the season. All time favourites take gold in Lead As the leaves change colour and the season winds down, the race for the Lead World Cup title heated up! In the women’s final, there was a move where all the finalists fell, all but two: Anak Verhoeven (BEL), who made it one move further, and Jain Kim (KOR), who fell 6 moves higher than the rest of the field and took gold. Thanks to this amazing performance, Jain Kim is now 2 nd in the Lead World Cup ranking behind Mina Markovic (SLO), and in front of Jessica Pilz (AUT), who took bronze in Wujiang. In the men’s field, Adam Ondra (CZE) made it back from a somewhat lackluster 2015 season to win his first World Cup of the year in Wujiang. The Czech prodigy dominated the final with a very efficient climbing style that gave him the gold. Puurs winner Domen Skofic (SLO) was again in great form this weekend, and he took silver in Wujiang after a tough fight in the final. Sean McColl (CAN) completes the podium. Gautier Supper still leads the Lead World Cup ranking, but Adam Ondra is only ten points behind. It will all come down to the last IFSC World Cup of the season to pick up a Lead World Cup Champion 2015! In the men’s competition, Reza Alipourshena (IRI) took gold in Wujiang in front of Libor Hroza (CZE), who came second, and Bassa Mawem (FRA), who took bronze. 2015 Speed World Cup gold was awarded to Qixin Zhong (CHN). 2015 Speed World Cup silver medalist was Libor Hroza, and 2015 Speed World Cup bronze medalist was Danyil Boldyrev. Next stop: Kranj (SLO) Kranj will host the last IFSC Lead World Cup of the season on November 14-15, 2015.
