Habit #1Be Proactive
Sometimes things go wrong, and we feel shaken up. As a result, we might EXPLODE on someone or something. This is called being REACTIVE.
When you are PROACTIVE, you make a choice about how you react to the things that happen in your life. You act like a water bottle. You might get shaken up , but you stay calm and dont explode!
Language:Reactive vs Procative
Theres nothing I can doThats just the way I amHe makes me so madThey wont allow thatI have to do thatI cantI mustIf onlyLets look for alternativesI can choose a different approachI control my own feelingsI can create an effective presentationI will choose an appropriate responseI chooseI preferI will
Circle of Influence

Focus on things you can change or influenceThings you cant controlThings you can control or change
Things you CANT control or change:Other peopleThe weatherThings you did wrong in the pastHow other people treat meProjects and Assignments
Things you CAN control or change:Your attitudeYour moodYour reaction to good and bad things that happenHow I treat other peopleChange starts from within, and highly effective people make the decision to improve their lives through the things that they can influence rather than by simply reacting to external forces.
Habit #2Begin with the End in Mind
Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. One of the best ways to incorporate Habit 2 into your life is to develop a Personal Mission Statement.
Mission Statement, Part 1:Write your name in a circle. Out from the circle, write words that describe you.

Mission Statement, Part 2:Now think about what kind of person you WANT to be. Make a list.I want to be:LoyalLeaderHonorableTeam-player
Use the two lists to write your mission statement.
It is based on the principle that all things are created twice.
There is a mental (first) creation, and a physical (second) creation.
The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint. If you don't make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default.
Habit #3Put First Things First
First things are those things you, personally, find of most worth. If you put first things first, you are organizing and managing time and events according to the personal priorities you established in Habit 2.
Things which matter most must never be a the mercy of things which matter least.
Identify the key roles that you value in life, and make time for each of them.
Separate important and urgent tasks.
The key is not to prioritize your schedule but to schedule your priorities

Habit #4Think Win-Win
Six Paradigms of human interactions: Win/winWin/loseLose/winLose/LoseWinWin/win or no deal
Habit 4: Think win-win
Habit #5 Seek fist to understand and then to be understood
Habit 5. Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood: Principles of Mutual Understanding Giving advice before empathetically understanding will likely result in rejection of that advice.Presenting your own autobiography will decrease the chance of establishing a working communication.
Seek First to UnderstandThis habit is the most important principle of interpersonal relations.Effective listening is not simply echoing what the other person has said through the lens of one's own experience. It is putting oneself in the perspective of the other person, listening empathically for both feeling and meaning.
Habit #6 Synergize
Principles of Creative Cooperation
Defensive (Win/Lose or Lose/win)Respectful (Compromise)Synergistic (Win/Win)LowTRUSTHighLEVELS OF COMMUNCIATIONCOOPERATIONLowHigh
Deeply understanding each other becomes the stepping stones to synergy Synergy means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts One plus one equals three or more. Identifying a third synergistic alternative/solution that will be better for everyone concerned.
Habit Six - Synergize The Habit of Creative CooperationValuing The DifferencesThe essence of synergy is valuing the differences. Valuing the differencesdoes not imply that individuals approve of or agree with differences;however it does mean that people respect differences and view themas opportunities for learning. The differing opinions of others and their viewpoints, perspectives, talents and gifts are valuable when seekingsolutions. These differences enable you to discover and produce thingstogether that you would much less likely discover and produce individually. At what level do you value the differences ?

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but an habit.
