JAMIE VOLLMERJamie Vollmer has 25 years of experience working with school districts, education associations, and foundations from across the nation. His primary interest is in helping educators remove obstacles in order to progress and create schools that unfold the potential in every child. He is the author of numerous articles and the book Schools Cannot Do It Alone.
STEVE STAPLESDr. Staples was recently appointed as the 24th State Superintendent of Public Instruction by Governor Terry McAuliffe. He has served in public education for 38 years and was the 1997 Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Staples held the position of division superintendent in York County for 16 years and was previously the executive director of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents.
ERIC SHENINGEREric Sheninger, Principal of New Milford High School in New Jersey, will be pre-senting on the topic Digital Leadership: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times. A 2013 Bammy Award winner, Mr. Sheninger is the co-creator of the Edscape Conference and a member of the Foundation for Educational Administration (FEA) Board of Directors. His well known blog, A Principal’s Reflections, was selected as the Best School Administrator Blog in 2013 and 2011 by Edublogs. BREAKFAST KEYNOTE SPEAKER: BOB HOLSWORTHDr. Bob Holsworth is a well known and respected political commentator in Virgin-ia. He is a former Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences of Virginia Commonwealth University and the first Director of the Wilder School of Govern-ment and Public Affairs. He currently serves on the VCU Board of Visitors. Dr. Holsworth is the founder of Virginia Tomorrow which assists in analyzing political trends while providing strategic advice and services to organizations. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: COL. ARTHUR ATHENS, USMC (Ret.)Colonel Athens is the Director of the U.S. Naval Academy’s Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 2008 with over 30 years of service. Colonel Athens has served as the Commandant of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as well as the Executive Director of Officers’ Christian Fellow-ship (OCF), a worldwide non-profit organization helping military personnel integrate their faith and profession.
