We would truly like to thank those who came by our booth – from the pictures it’s clear you enjoyed yourselves and came away with a good idea of what IGY has planned for 2011. All of our marina managers came over to Ft. Lauderdale as well as representatives from our newest IGY destinations – Boston Yacht Haven, Marina Santa Marta and Palmas del Mar Yacht Club – everyone had great things to say about the show. If you attended the Dockwalk Party, then you know what a success that was. Bimini Boatyard was packed with cap- tains and crew. A good time was had by all and we look forward to another suc- cessful collaboration next year. The Yacht Chandler’s Save our Seas party was also a great time had by all. The art that was sold – thanks to auctioneer and co-own- er, James James – was a slew of over- sized underwater images that seemed to fly out the door. The party had a record attendance with over 2,500 and raised over $23,000 dollars for the Save Our Seas Foundation. Saturday night of the show was the National Marine Mardi Gras BBQ, where party-goers had the chance to show their creative chops through their costumes. It actually felt like a real mardi gras celebration – beads and all. We also attended and sponsored the Seakeeper’s Soiree, an event that gathers the movers and shakers behind keeping our oceans safe and clean. As much fun as FLIBS can be, the ques- tion on everyone’s mind is: was it a suc- cessful show? fliBs 2010 Was a WhirlWinD of activity and networking for IGY.

Bimini Boatyard was packed with cap-tains and crew. A good time was had by all and we look forward to another suc-cessful collaboration next year. The Yacht Chandler’s Save our Seas party was also a great time had by all. The art that was sold – thanks to auctioneer and co-own-er, James James – was a slew of over-sized underwater images that seemed to

fl y out the door. The party had a record attendance with over 2,500 and raised over $23,000 dollars for the Save Our Seas Foundation. Saturday night of the show was the National Marine Mardi Gras BBQ,

where party-goers had the chance to show their creative chops through their costumes. It actually felt like a real mardi gras celebration – beads and all. We also attended and sponsored the Seakeeper’s Soiree, an event that gathers the movers and shakers behind keeping our oceans safe and clean.

As much fun as FLIBS can be, the ques-tion on everyone’s mind is: was it a suc-cessful show? We look forward to check-ing out the analytics that are most likely still being compiled by the experts.

Plans Were maDe anD eVerYone Was in PlaCe and ready to go for the St. Lucia Billfi sh Tournament. But on Oct 29th when the boats began to arrive to the IGY Rodney Bay Marina an unwanted guest called Hurricane Tomas was approaching and ready to change those plans. The organizers and anglers however, had another plan – that the tournament must go on! And that it did.

On Monday evening, with 30 boats and over 125 anglers, H2O restau-rant was the venue for the captain’s briefi ng and IGY Manager’s Welcome. The following morning after breakfast, all boats began the tournament with the traditional bimini start just outside the marina with the helicopter photo op and Wednesday, the fi nal fi shing day, began at 6am and ended with lines up at 4pm.

Held at the newly renovated Bread Basket with Chef Richardson, the awards ceremony ended the event with a surprise from winner Steve Rol-land. After receiving his cash prize, he made an incredible offer to St. Lucia by donating his prize money to the disaster relief. This gift extended to all of the other cash prize winners and, in the end, over EC$16,000.00 was raised for Soufriere assistance.

The best overall boat, last year’s winner Par T Time of Trinidad & Tobago, has once again won a beautiful bronze trophy and an invitation to the IGFA World Championships in 2011 held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The team participated in this year’s championships on behalf of St. Lucia and they have confi rmed that they will compete again next year. Congratulations!

The latest destination to join the IGY network is more than just a great marina with varying capacity. It’s attached to a resort that is host to a slew of outdoor activity of which to take advantage. The 2,800 acre luxury property comprises an equestrian center, 22 tennis courts, two championship golf courses, na-ture reserve and pristine sandy beaches. With su-perior billfishing, watersport charters and a luxury yacht club, the property has something for everyone and doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to service. The marina proudly boasts a professionally trained staff and concierge to cater to every boater’s needs – whether an angler, cruiser, yachtsman or sail-or – Palmas del Mar Yacht Club covers the whole gamut. Amenities on-site and nearby include Internet, a business center, 16 restaurants, market and shops, full-service boatyard, a marine supply store, full pro-visioning service and customs and immigration just a phone call away. Popular with Captains and crew is Pusser’s Bar, Restaurant and Co Store alongside the ocean with a temptingly clear swimming pool, tables and lounges. Rounding out the accommodations and nightlife is a Shertaton Four Point Hotel & Casino.
