Assignment
Submitted by Amit Kumar Gupta (RS123)
Q1. Differentiate between Conference, Workshop and Symposium?
Q2. How you can interpret the paper during?
Q2. Differentiate between Transaction and Journal paper at technological point of
view?
Q5. Justify will be white Paper can become the base paper in the thesis?
Q4. What are the parameters on which reader will select the best conference and
journal?
Q. Explain the organization style IMRAD in technical writing.Ans: The IMRAD structure is frequently used formatting structure for writing
scientific papers nowadays. IMRAD is a acronym for Introduction, Method,
Results and Discussion.
At the time of writing any scientific papers these are four pillars, which we used
most of the time.
(i)Introduction- why was the study undertaken? What was the research question,
the tested hypothesis or the purpose of the research?
i.e. This part provides information of about the topic, problem and challenge. It
gives a brief view of paper.
(ii)Methods - when, where, and how was the study done? What materials wereused or who was included in the study groups (patients, etc.)?
i.e. Method gives a way to solve the problem through the algorithm or
mathematical model.
(iii)Results - what answer was found to the research question; what did the study
find? Was the tested hypothesis true?
i.e. Result provides information about the approach to solve the problem. Is the
approach valid and feasible to solve the existing problem?
(iv)Discussion - what might the answer mean and why does it matter? How does it
fit in with what other researchers have found? What are the perspectives for futureresearch?
i.e. It will give a report about the result, performance, future scope of work.

Q. Give an example of your own of constructing a number of titles of a
paper/thesis in order of increasing features of the content of the work.

3) Non-Collation games in Communication Networks
4) Conflict & strategic behavior in Communication Networks
Q. How do you define fog index and what is its accepted range for technical
communication?
Ans: Fog index provides a readability test. It is intended to show
difficulty or easiness of a text for reading purpose.
To measure a representative piece of your text by fog index F defined
as F = 0.4 (Wsentence + P100 words)
Wsentence = average number of words per sentence P100 words =
average number of polysyllables per 100 words of text (A polysyllable is a word
with three or more syllables)
The empirical factor 0.4 corresponds approximately to F equalling thenumber of years of education a reader must have in order to become
capable to read a document easily.
Acceptable range of Fog Index F: -- 10
