WELCOME TO ITALY!!!

Italy is a beautiful country, composed of 20 regions. The most famous cities are Milan, Turin, Naples, Venice, Florence and Rome, that is the capital of Italy and that it is known for its history and monuments.

Geography of ItalyItaly, also called «Lo Stivale (Boot)» for its strange form, is placed in the Southern Europe and it includes two big islands: Sardinia and Sicily. Around the territory, there are five seas that are Ligurian, Adriatic, Tyrrhenian, Ionian and Mediterranean seas. The Italian territory has many mountains too; Mont Blanc is the highest point in Italy and in the European Union and there are 14 volcanoes, but only four of them are active.

Our region: PugliaPuglia is a region in the Southern Italy, and itsmain town is Bari. Here in Puglia there are few mountains. The most important is called “Gargano”, 1065 meters high. Anyway an important place is “Caves of Castellana ” about 3 km long under the ground.

Another beautiful place…Trulli are ancient stone buildings located in Alberobello and have been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.In the past the Trulli were used aswarehouses while today there area lot of people who live there. The only problem of these beautiful constructions is that they are very small to live.

Barletta Barletta is an important city in Italy for his particular history. In fact we celebrate an event called“La Disfida (The Challenge)”. Our city has played an important role during the second World War too and there is a monument in Piazza Caduti where people were killed during the Resistance.

Barletta: 2° partThe other attractions in Barletta are the Suevian Castle and Eraclio. The castle was built thanks to Federico II di Svevia to protect the city from invaders and today a lot of tourists come here to visit it. Speaking about Eraclio, it is a statue made in bronze, 4 meters tall. There are many legends about him so we don’t know his real story.Now it’s your turn to discover our city and we hope you will enjoy this time here.
