INTRODUCTION:The proposed Institute Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering is being

promoted by Bhandari Charitable Trust. The Trust has been promoted by some of the

Directors of Electrotherm (India) Limited, a leading industry of Gujarat, their familymembers, other industrialists and social activists. The major objective of the Trust is topromote education and social welfare.

The establishment of Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering (IITE) by the Trust bears

confident strides, withering storms and waves in its way forward, the Indus Institute has setan amazing and blazing pace of academic growth in a short span of four years with the

blessing and the patronage from all the board member of BCT. Advance research anddevelopment is the backbone of any engineering institute to excel in the field of academics

The Trustees intended the institute to make contribution in emerging and forward lookingfields of knowledge from the theoretical to applied technologies keeping with the

institutional objectives to be widely acknowledged as one of the countrys premier teaching

and research institute and to be known far and wide as powerhouse of engineering andtechnology.

The paradigm today is in developing the human resources and it is the best way to optimizethe efficiency. Indus believes that everybody has ideas and therefore creates an

The Indus Institute is an extension of the philosophy of its founding fathers to stride forperfection and try to remain at the helm of affairs. Therefore, Indus believes in pursuing

the policy to rely not only on indigenous talent alone but attract best and brightest scientific

minds from across the world. The collaboration with foreign universities is a well timed-move in this direction. It will not only render greater choice by offering variety of courses to

the students, such collaboration will also enable us to have hand-on experience on cutting

edge technology through faculty and student exchange program by allowing the transfer ofthe credits to foreign institutes.

Details of infrastructure

The most remarkable feature of the campus is the seamless interconnection of nature and

by virtue of being once the family farm of co-founder and Managing Trustee, Dr. Nagesh

Bhandari. Sprawled across 11.23 acres campus in noise free and pollution free environment,lawns and gardens intertwine and blend with the institutes graceful quads and architecture.

Indus has agreement enrollment of 1760 students representing Gujarat State. Indus is co-educational and non sectarian institute irrespective of religion or race.

The campus equipped with high-tech classrooms incorporating information and

communication technology (ICT) aids, air-conditioned seminar halls and auditorium and

spacious corridors offer ambience to enrich the class room experience and improve learningoutcome of the students.

It offers study programs in the fields as diverse as EC, EEE, Mechanical, Automobile,

Metallurgy and Computer engineering at under graduate level and MBA and MCA at

graduate level and two satellite courses at Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd. (AAA)and Western India Institute of Aeronautics (WIIA).

The defining characteristics of Indus are its industry orientation and linkages. Side by side,institute offers laboratory environment that nurture students creative instincts. Indus

recognizes the centrality of the on-the-job-training. It is proposed to start new branches inNuclear Engineering, Marine Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and variousother programs. The campus also offers sports facilities, canteen, hobbies club, student

recreation club gymnasium, hostel, faculty quarters etc.

The central library of IITE is spread over a 569.42 Sq.mtr with a seating capacity of more

than 350 students at a time. The library has a large collection of books, journals,magazines, CDs on technical and non technical topics. It also includes daily news papers.We have subscribed online database DEL E-Resources, IEEE data base online, Inter Library

Loan services, Membership of Ahmedabad Library Network, Indian Standards boundvolumes.

Central Computing Facility

Central computing facility of IITE promises to provide a complete computer network,allowing everyone to be connected with each other and outer world.

There is an internet lab in activity center in which 80 computers are set up with a server,

connected to a high speed internet connection. All the computers are intra-connected viaLAN.

All the faculty members and the administration are intra-connected for intra-office mails or

memos and for account handling etc. purposes. The computer labs are set up with the

following facilities (as per AICTE norms). No of computer terminals: 80 (Minimum)

Central Workshop

IITE is offering Engineering degree in the fields likeMechanical, Automobile etc. that always require a huge

workshop area. Keeping this in view, IITE has a workshop

shed of around 1632 Sqm(AICTE norms 900 square meter).

Central Instrumentation Facility

Central Instrumentation Facility would be provided tomeet the requirement of the laborites of Physics, Chemistry,Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Metallur-

gical Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering.Further, facilities for calibration of all kinds of instruments

would be provided with the objective to create NationalCalibration Center.

Hostel & Staff Quarters

The institution also has its own hostels and staff quartersin campus with good infrastructure facilities. Around 350plus students are staying here.

Transportation

IITE provides transportation facilities for students who wish

to commute from their local residence to the institute and back.

The institute has its own fleet of buses that ply over pre-decidedroutes to and from Ahmedabad. Students staying in the hostels

can avail of the shuttle services of these buses for commuting

between the institute and the city.

Sports

The playground for outdoor games is available. The Other facility consists of indoorgames such as table tennis, chess, carom etc. The Annual Sports Days is a regularfeature.

Canteen

The institute also houses a canteen offering wholesome andNutritious lunch, breakfast, dinner, snacks and beverages.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT DEPARTMENTRole of T & P Department

Provide placement assistance to graduating students. Arrange Expert Lectures, Industry Visits, Industrial Training and Skill Development

Programs for students. Bring together the students and potential employing organizations. Facilitate interactions between the two.

For this purpose the T&P will correspond with organizations, arrange interviews for

students and coordinate various Training & Placement related activities.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

In each semester four visits are conducted in different industries relevant to theor

core branch and syllabus. Few industries were students went for this semester(Jan10 to June10) Kotharpur Water Works, Ferromatic Milacron, Indo German Tool

Room, Hi-rel Electronics, Metso Minerals, Heavy Metals Industries, ISRO, Bosch

Rexroth, Institute for Plazma Research, Atul Auto Industries P. Ltd., Amul Industries

P. Ltd., Mother Dairy and many more

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

It starts from 4th Semester onwards,it is of two weeks training after University examsAfter the training students prepare reports and give presentation.

Approximately 600+ students (all branches excluding Computer Engg) have beentrained in over 143 companies during (From 1st July 10 to 14th July 10). Fewindustries were students got training are General Motors, Doordarshan Kendra,

Essar Steel Ltd., Alpha Nippon, Bosch Rexroth, Landmark Honda, Welspun

Corporation, Indo German Tool Room etc..

PLACEMENTS

We are proud to announce that though this year was our 1 st placement year, we

achieved 100% targets in Mechanical & Metallurgy Branch. An overall placement is78% including all the branches. Few companies who visited our campus for theplacement drive and students got selected are Essar Group, Laxcon Steel, Claris

Civil Aviation, Government of India.
