Regional Collaboration to Raise
Educational Attainment
The Illinois P-20 Council’s goal is to increase the proportion
of adults in Illinois with high-quality degrees and
credentials to 60% by the year 2025.
The Northern Illinois Regional P-20 Network, launched in
June 2014, collaborates to increase college and career
success for our students through regional action toward
the 60/2025 goal.

The P-20 Network Makes Things Happen
Over the past 15 months, the P-20 Network has
Provided a source of vision and innovation that has surprised Illinois
officials – and some of us, too
Started to restructure the transitions from high school and community
colleges, changing relationships across levels
Used research to drive action through workforce reports, survey
instruments on 10 topics, 2 policy papers, 3 lit reviews, and reports on
education attainment
Attracted positive attention from the White House and around the
country

Result: 10 agreements in action, 10 more in process

Methodology National Trends
Emerging Occupations - focus on high growth industries and related occupations that
involve significantly different work than other occupations already in O*NET.
Fast-Growing Occupations – O*NET data for jobs in occupations projected to grow by at
least 22% between 2012 and 2022.

Baseline data for assessing the status of dual credit and AP not yet
available at the state level; regional research is needed.

P-3 Work Group
Form a P-3 work group to focus energy and attention on
collaborative projects that improve preparation of children
from birth to grade 3 for success in school, family, and
community life.
Convene a regional group of P-3 experts in fall 2015
Collect and review data across the region to assess regional P-3 programs and services
Identify national models of best practices that work comprehensively with all stakeholder groups
Generate plan to address gaps and present in February 2016
Seek funding for both pilot projects and large-scale initiatives
