MEMBER’S SHOWTravels in TurkeyBy Robert Todd

My first trip to Turkey wasin 1973, and it left a lastingimpression on me. My wifeBetül (who I met here inToronto) is Turkish, and we have travelled toTurkey every five years orso to see family andfriends. Our journeys havetaken us to all corners ofTurkey, where several

civilizations have left a rich history to explore andenjoy. Above all, Turkey is a photographer’s dream, whether it be nature, architecture, scenics, people orantiquities.

Other than using actual slides and a carosselprojector, this is my first digital slide show. I used'Pinnacle Studio12 Plus', as it has the capability ofimporting photos, movies and frame grabs from thosemovies, special effects, transitions, titling and onecan set up your own themes. As well it has built inbackground music, and you can add your own music(it has multiple secondary tracks), plus it has voiceover capabilities. Best of all, it is very easy to use. There are on-line tutorials as well as user forums togain further knowledge and exchange experiences.

Editor’s comment: Many have never been to Turkeybefore but I must say Robert wetted our appetite.Robert shared with us images from his many trips toall parts of Turkey over the years.

We saw and heard about some ancient historical sitesbut we also saw the diversity of the Turkishlandscape such as the example above.

Several members commented to me how much theyenjoyed Robert’s show and learning about Turkey’srich historical background. As Robert said, “Turkeyis a photographer’s dream”. If anyone iscontemplating a trip to Turkey, Robert would be agood person to talk to when planning your trip.

Robert’s commentary was very well researched andof professional quality. Well done!

Everyone seemed to have a great time at our Christmas Potluck and our Trios Competition 2008(as seen in the attached collage of images). We had more entries in Trios than ever before and I must say they are

getting more creative every year. Thanks to Brian Quan for the above group image – he had to use the widest angle

lens in his camera bag just to get us all in.

Update from October 27th meeting by Karin Adams and Chuck Carson: (late arriving images)
