DETERMINED

Determined Collection is what I have done I my image stu-dio class showing my computer growth as well as my graph-ic design growth. As a person I strive to always strive for my goal no matter the cost. I hope my art work shows this deter-mination and strive for improvement in not only technique but also artistic ability. My motto is that I might not be the best in the group but I am the one you will always know who will get the project done no matter how difficult the circum-stances. I strive for reliability as well as improvement be-cause there is no point in talent if you can not be relied on to use it properly. All these pieces were created with the fullest attention and determination. Computer is a new medium for me personally and it became my personal goal to do the best that I could to learn as much as I could and to reach my goal of comprehension and improvement in the medium, be-cause why do anything at all if you aren’t going to go the full way.

Each page has a description of the project and the process of the project as well as solutions to the problems given for these project. This is meant to not just give any explana-tion but show the journey of the creation of the work and to give the reader insight into how the artist, me, handled the project in my own way. Problem solving for an artist as well as any profession is very important and seeing the process of the problem solving shows the viewer of how the artist thinks, giving further insight into their own works. This is why when I solve the problems of each project I try to give a logical explanation as well as a creative one, because the journey is just as important as the finished product.

Triptych Challenge The Challenge of the assignment was to create a story with a basic three sentence story. Using a minimalist art style while learning and perfect-ing the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator. Mine was involving fire crumpled pa-per and melting wax. The story of the triptych is a sleeping student falls a sleep and is unknowingly in grave dan-ger because a fire has started because the candles’ wax has dripped on to her crumpled up homework pieces and has caught fire while the fire’s light is shin-ing through the clear bottle that sits beside the now blazing fire.

ProcessHow I came up with a solution to this challenge was to hand draw a rough sketch of the triptych and then scan it onto the computer and onto Adobe Il-lustrator. Then use the basic functions of Illustrator to create the art piece. Then make sure the picture created a continuous visual piece as well as as a

Icons ChallengeThe challenge for this art piece was to create a set of works using Adobe Illustrator and perfecting the usage of the basic tools learned from the previ-ous project. We had to create 12 icons from a simi-lar design and subject to create a particular singu-lar set. We had three basic designer differences to each version to make the different version unique and at the same time widening the numbers of the set. My set was military hat throughout American History. ProcessOver came and found a solution to the challenge was to create a hard basic sketch and to scan in and draw over in Illustrator. This would keep the style of the same and the Hats more accurate than without a previous composite sketch. These Icons included face shape as well as hats to include the realism by implying the action to which they would have been used. This creates what you see here intended for wide use for business and person-al use alike.

Tidy Up ArtChallenge This art work was a particular challenge because you had to tidy or organize a famous work of art but at the same time keep the meaning for the work. I chose Raphael’s work of the Philosopher’s School of Athens. ProcessHow I changed and I tidied up the work was to sim-plify the amount of people in the work. The paint-ing is about philosophers debating over the bal-ance of the universe. So I simplified the painting into a circle and making it into a scale, in particu-lar an ancient scale to resemble the ancient Greek and Roman scale of justice. This brings the mean-ing more to the point in a more physically obvious way.

Recreation Book Titles Challenge The challenge of this art piece was not only recre-ating three different book titles but also recreat-ing them with at least seven different works of art from different points in time starting with the me-dieval and ending with the industrial revolution. Also making them match to a particular series and publishing company. Process How I approached the problem of this work and its demanding structural rules was to find picture that related to each of the books plot stating with the medieval era and going through to the indus-trial revolution. How I tied the books together, were through their textures and designed them to resemble an older vintage book cover. Which made sense for these books since they were all several decades old.
