2. The Remanufacturing Process

1. All safety related parts are replaced (power cords, breakers, fuses, thermostats and protective switches).

2. Pertinent engineering changes are implemented (updated parts, firmware, etc.).

3. Hard disk drives are replaced or erased and reimaged.4. Each module is inspected for damage during the remanufacturing

process. Subassemblies and parts are replaced as needed.5. All paper path areas are thoroughly cleaned, and evaluated during

the reassembly process.6. Almost all bearings are replaced in the Main Station, Finisher and

Sub Station. All bearings are replaced in the fixing units.7. The fixing units are completely disassembled, cleaned and tested.

The fixing unit tests are the same as for a newly manufacturedfixing unit: a belt alignment test, pressure spring force test and acomplete function check test (checks sensors, web advancement, temperature, refresh and cleaning roller engagement and belttiming).

8. All of the reworked major sub-assemblies are inspected by theoperator performing the rework as well as an inspector.

9. After the entire module has been reworked and re-assembled it isinspected as an assembly.

This model brings the following capabilities to commercial printers, In-plantCentral Reproduction Department (CRD) facilities, quick printers and digitalprinters:

A Segment 5 device that prints and copies Color and Black & White(B&W) sheets at speeds of up to 70 ppm (pages-per-minute).

Prints images at up to 1200 dpi (dots per inch) x 1200dpi with 256halftones resolution.

A maximum paper size of 13" x 19.2” is supported. Standard papersources two paper trays with a capacity of up to 1,000-sheets each.Adding the optional POD Deck-A1e, the device can hold a maximum of6,000-sheets.

Canon’s oil-free V Toner utilizes exceptionally small particles containingmicro-dispersed wax so toner fixes evenly and lays flat, resulting insharp, vivid, dense images and a smooth finish that looks and feels likeoffset printing.

VI. Servicing Notes

A. Power and Plug Requirements

Canon USA Inc. strongly suggests dedicated and properly grounded outletsbe provided for these imagePRESS devices.

The imagePRESS C7000VPe Main Unit requires a dedicated 3-phase208V/30A NEMA L21-30 receptacle for proper operation.

IMPORTANT

We recommend an additional standard 120 V/15 A outlet for servicetools, such as a laptop computer or vacuum that may be used whenservicing or configuring the machine.

Use only dedicated and properly grounded outlets for the main unit andimagePRESS Server Controllers. It is also strongly suggested to usededicated and properly grounded outlets for each optional accessory. Donot use extension cords. The ground connection serves to provide theinternal electronics with a reference voltage. Faulty or poor groundsources will cause this reference voltage to fall into a range that nolonger serves as a reliable reference voltage. The internal logic andprogramming of the imagePRESS C7000VPe machines will not performreliably because there is an insufficient difference between the internaloperating signal voltages and the poor ground reference signal. Aqualified electrician can measure and provide the ground source that theimagePRESS C7000VPe machines or any computer controlled officeequipment requires.

Before installation, confirm that all necessary receptacles are available. Phase converters and step down transformers are not supported

O. Consumable Parts

Consumable parts are defined as those parts having a limited life that will bereached during a customer’s specific machine operation, and should then bereplaced as needed. Examples of consumable parts include, but are notlimited to, feed rollers and cleaner blades.

An estimated consumable parts list is provided in the table below to assist inthe initial parts/supplies planning. A consumable part’s life expectancy isdirectly related to usage factors, such as paper size, paper quality, environment, usage application, and machine maintenance. Therefore, consumable parts do not have a warranty, and Canon USA cannot guaranteea minimum life.

Notes:

All consumable parts shown in the table below are for referencepurposes only, and are subject to change without notice.

VII. Suggested End-User Customer Service Offerings

A. Monthly Copy Volume

The maximum print/copy monthly volume is the maximum number of pagesthe machine can produce within a one-month period (based on letter sizepaper). However, the device should not be used to produce the maximumnumber of pages, or a greater volume, on a consistent monthly basis.

The optimum performance range is the volume range that the equipment isintended to run on a regular basis to maintain a high-level of performance andprint/copy quality.

Monthly PCV Type Description

OptimumPerformance Range

This is the print/copy volume range that the equipment wasintended to run on a regular basis to maintain a high level ofperformance and print/copy quality. Running the equipment withinthis range ensures that no undue stress is placed on components, and it allows time for the proper servicing and maintenance of theequipment.

Maximum MonthlyCopy/Print Volume

On occasion, the machine can produce up to the aboveprints/copies. However, sustained use of the machine at this level, will significantly impact the long term performance and durability ofthe machine. You should expect an increase in the number ofservice calls and down time during periods of Maximumproduction use.

VIII. Product Technical Support Offerings

A. Dealer Support Requirements

imagePRESS C7000VPe Technical Training is required to receive technicalsupport for these machines. Refer to the Canon USA Technical SupportCenter section for further details.

To ensure that every dealer receives the highest level of support and help toresolve the end user’s problems quickly and accurately, we recommend thefollowing to maximize your technical support request:

Your support personnel should check technical documentation (UserManuals, Technical Publications, etc.) and the e-Support Web site (24hours a day, 7 days a week) before calling Canon USA’s TSC (TechnicalSupport Center), since your concern may have already been addressedand documented.

Have your Support ID number ready when you call the TSC, and makesure that you are where the engine or application is located andaccessible. This dramatically improves the TSC’s ability to helptroubleshoot the problem, and eliminate the “guesswork” whenanswering a specific question. This also helps to supply you withanswers that are more accurate.

Provide the serial number of the installed engine or application you wantto troubleshoot. While the serial number is required to access support, italso provides the Support Specialist with information about previouscalls for support.

Make sure to provide environment-specific information, and any othersite-specific variables.

Submit and update your profile information, such as cell phone number,e-mail address, and company address on the e-Support Web site in theCurrent Profile section. You can also call Canon USA’s TSC. Accurateprofile information enables you to contact support personnel faster, andis necessary, if more information is required from the caller later.

At the completion of each call, a ticket number is provided. If the SupportSpecialist does not provide a number, the caller should ask for it.

Have a Dealer Technician or Systems Engineer call Canon USA withwhat resolved your issue. This information is helpful, and enables aSupport Specialist to assist other callers who may have the sameproblem.
