What others expect us to be…BOYS

• Tough Guy

–“Stand up on your own to feet…”

– Be a winner…

–Don’t let them see you sweat or worse yet CRY!

–Never EVER share your feelings.

–Did I mention… be a MAN…

How should we look at ourselves?

• Romans 12:3 “Gifts of Grace”• For by the grace given to me I say

to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

• Phil 2:3: Do not act out of self-concerns, but for others, and then in humility.

Gal 6:3,4: Sober evaluation should be made not on the basis of how one is doing in comparison with others, but by comparing oneself with Scriptural standards, and of course, Scriptural standards stress humility and putting self to death (denial of self), not boosting one's self-esteem.

THE BOTTOM LINE!

• If I see myself as having little worth, I will never achieve my God-given potential.

But if I see myself as having GREAT VALUE, not in a prideful way, but as God sees and accepts me, I will, with God's help, be able to reach and achieve my God-given life potential.

Now I know I am I.O.G. What am I suppose to do?

Small Group I.O.G. Challenge

• The Challenge: As a small group find as many biblical quotes as you can that express that we are created in the image of God and how God views us as his specially made creation!

• On a large poster paper we will provide write each quote by naming the book, chapter and verse (John 3:16). Then VERY briefly write the point of the quote (2-5 words) if possible.

•Yeah, we know the bible is a BIG book so we have provided your small group leaders with a cheat sheet.

•These may not be the only places you will find quotes but we KNOW you will find them in the following books… (see cheat sheet)

•Bring your poster board to large group at the end of your small group session and turn it in to Pam.

•The winning small group will receive a REALLY good cake and ice cream for dessert when they meet as a small group later tonight.
