At Oliver’s Market Our Roots are In Fresh Produce.
In 1972 Steve Maass and his wife,
Ruth Maass, began selling produce
from off the back of a truck in San
Francisco, CA. They converted an old
Coca-Cola truck into a mobile fruit
stand which became a retail phe-
nomenon every summer at Taraval
and Dewey streets. The stand was so
successful that they hired valets to
park cars and the stand was featured
on “Eye on San Francisco” and “Good
Morning America.” Later in 1988 we
moved to Sonoma county and opened
Oliver’s Market.~ Steve Maass
Our produce departments are the
foundation of our stores. We believe
in the importance of supporting local
farmers and each of our Produce
Managers have long-established
relationships with local growers.
Each store’s Produce Department
contains two distinct departments:
one conventional, one organic.
Unlike other stores, we carry a full
line of both organic and conven-
tional produce to offer the widest
selection. Our commitment to quality
and value goes back to when our
founder Steve Maass ran his roadside
produce stands.
Once you shop one of our produce
departments, you’ll know why we say
“Our roots are in produce.”
We are proud to offer Covilli organic Green Beans this Thanksgiving. There is two parts to the story. First
the quality. We were shocked years ago when we realized every box of beans was literally hand packed with
every single bean stacked in the same direction. This amount of care is not forgotten in the sweet flavor and
stunning appearance of the bean itself. Secondly, every box of Covilli produce has a built-in premium that
goes directly back to the workers. Every year they then vote on where the funds should go. Last year they
built a health clinic. These are by far the best Fall and Winter beans on the market.

The Holiday season is a upon us, and here at Oliver’s we think the best way to get
the cheer going is with a little savings in the wine department. Join us this week
for a selection of wines ten dollars or less. While low in cost these wines are by
no means cheap! Any of these wines are wine we would love to share at a dinner
with friends and family, or just to keep a few around for those unexpected guests
that stop by during the Holidays. These are wonderful wines, and at ten dollars or
less they are the perfect wines to stock up for the holidays.

Oliver’s Market Gourmet Cheese
Family owned and operated since 1918, Valley Ford Creamery has been making some of
Sonoma County’s favorite cheeses since 2008. The newest in the collection is a wonderfully
whipped and creamy farmer’s cheese, based on a collaboration of recipes including mascar-
pone, quark, creme fraiche, and fromage blanc. The resulting cheese is a divine creation that
tastes somewhere between whipped cream and whipped butter. Delicious spread on fresh
bread or swirl into whipped potatoes for extra creamy side dish.
