BRUCE GREY CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD – VISION STATEMENT
Committed to a vibrant Catholic education, we ensure quality learning experiences through community partnerships that nurture each student in mind, body and spirit and
embrace the teachings of Christ, giving witness to Gospel values.
End of the School Year Prayer
Dear Lord, our education was
possible because of many important
people. We thank you for our parents,
who brought us to you in baptism,
were our first teachers, and brought
us to this school. We thank our school
staff, who help us pray and guide us
to be the best we can be. Thank you
for their patience, their guidance,
their creativity, their compassion,
their wisdom, and their love of
learning. May we always use what
we’ve learned to the best of our
ability.
Amen
Volunteers are the heart and soul of any
community. As we venture into the last month
of school we celebrate our volunteers. Let us
remember that their hands are the hands of
power that strengthen, rescue, teach, love and
represent Christ on Earth. Dear God, bless the
volunteers at ICS. Send your blessings and
graces to each one of them filling their hearts,
minds and souls with the Holy Spirit.
This year, in honour of our volunteers, we have
purchased new books for the library. In each
book there will be a dedication to one of our
volunteers. We will also be having a special
Mass in their honour with cake and social time
back at the school on June 26th. Mass will
begin at 11:00AM. More details will come
home in a formal invitation.
The ICS Parent Council wishes to thank everyone who supported the Pitt’s Produce fundraiser. Our apologies for the mix up with the delivery and pick up of the fruit and vegetables.
School Council has graciously offered to provide lunch for the entire school on Tuesday, June 3rd. Lunch will be Tacos. Thank you for your generosity.

Tutors in the Classroom/Helpers in the Classroom
We are very fortunate to have a student help us in our classrooms during May and June. Many thanks to Adele Nussey, our tutor in the classroom. We wish her all the best in her future studies. We are also blessed to have volunteers who help out from time to time in our classrooms throughout the year. Thank you to those individuals for truly making a difference here at ICS.

students' academic learning skills over the summer . There is a different activity for each grade - from Junior Kinder-garten to Grade 7. Each grade level book features units aligned with the Ontario curriculum; parent information pages,
evaluation forms; follow up activities and a family focus. The cost of each book is $20.00. Visit www.learningadvantage.ca to

happy when it hurts you. Be very worried when it
doesn’t.”

HOT WEATHER DAYS With the onset of the warm and humid summer days please make sure that your children are prepared for the weather. Kindly apply sunscreen before your child leaves for school in the morning and ensure that they have a hat with them, particularly for the noon hour recess. Families are also encouraged to send a water bottle with their child that can be filled periodically throughout the day. On days when the air quality is poor and the humidity high we will have a shortened outdoor recess period. Open back, tube/tank tops, spaghetti straps and muscle shirts are not permitted by themselves or under other clothing. Sleeveless tops with a shoulder band of at least the width of three fingers are acceptable. Shorts, skirts, skorts and dresses are expected to be of a modest length (width of wearer’s hand at knee).

Canada Wide Science Fair: Due to extremely hard work and dedication, one of our students
had the privilege of attending the Canada Wide Science Fair in Windsor from May 12th –17th.
Katie Myatt won a silver medal. Katies's project, "iScan"
This project devised a new and innovative method for detecting fingerprints on low contrast
surfaces. It investigated and tested unique ways to effectively utilize optics to optimize the
contrast between the dusting powder and the surface. An iPhone camera with black and white live feed
video was used. The results clearly demonstrated that this method dramatically
increased the contrast and the visibility of the fingerprints.
We are very proud of Katie. She has been a great
ambassadorsfor ICS and the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board and wish her all the best in
her future plans.
