    RESEARCHERS HAVE PROVEN THAT MOVEMENT HELPS US LEARN MORE EFFECTIVELY. WE

    ARE LIMITITING CHILDREN’S CAPACITY FOR LEARNING BY MAKING THEM SIT STILL FOR

    TOO LONG, TOO OFTEN. LONG MOMENTS OF SITTING STILL IS NOT GOOD FOR OUR

    CONSTITUTION EITHER. THE CONCEPT OF A HEALTHY SOUL IN A HEALTHY BODY GETS A

    WHOLE NEW DIMENSION: AFTER ALL, MOVEMENT ALSO REFRESHES THE SOUL.

    i3-Technologies’ iMO-LEARN team used this knowledge and experience as a starting point.

    Our goal? To create a unique active learning environment in which students learn more intensely and develop their

    creativity through a new, movement-friendly approach.

    Our first test was applied to a school with 8 Danish teachers and one hundred pupils from the towns Kolding, Vejle and

    Dragor. We’ve presented various types of exercises to impart the teaching material and created alternative classroom

    setups that encouraged the children to naturally move more. A new seat was designed: the iMO-LEARN.

    The outcome? An ergonomic, sustainable and active learning environment wherein pupils learn flexibly and more

    intensely. But that’s not all: this innovative learning environment is also linked to the i3LEARNHUB online software. The

    analog iMO-LEARN is transformed into a system that provides immediate feedback in no time, very handy for multiple-

    choice questions! The result: sophisticated learning and movement.

    It is unusual to sit on a special object such as the iMO-LEARN. If you look closely at the seat you will see that it is not really

    a cube: it has no straight edges! Sitting still is not an option once the spherical side is on the floor. If you use the other

    sides, the seating position will adjust itself. This is dynamic seating at its best!

    iMO-LEARN comes in both analog and digital versions. The digital version has a motion sensor that communicates

    wirelessly with the online i3LEARNHUB digital board software. This enables you to magically transform the iMO-LEARN

    into an interactive and digital educational resource in no time at all.

    The iMO-LEARN is made of expanded polypropylene. This material has a number of advantages:

      • You can put various components together quickly and easily to create complex geometrical shapes.

      • It is possible to produce hybrid components.

      • The material makes the cube extremely light and therefore more comfortable to use,

    relieving stress on the joints.

      • Expanded polypropylene absorbs energy and moisture. This means the cube has a high level of

    temperature resistance.  • The material is easy to recycle, and emissions during production are low.

    THE CONCEPT

    One cube does not make the learning environment. An active learning environment is bigger than the sum

    of its attributes. This is why iMO-LEARN developed a number of standard concepts. There is, however, no

    reason why you shouldn’t let your imagination take over and create one yourself: design your own creative

    learning environment!

    Dynamic sitting

    The simplest one is the dynamic learning environment. The iMO-LEARNs

    are extremely suitable for this as there are no straight edges at all.

     Just try to sit still on one! The pupils move considerably more than in a

    standard classroom arrangement. This is a clear improvement towards

    more physical activity at school.You could use the iMO-LEARNs in class or integrate them into a special

    ‘move and learn’ area. The choice is yours!

    Analog active learning

    You can work with every side of the iMO-LEARN. The iMO can be used :

    • For physical exercises that increase the heart rate of the pupils for

    at least five minutes - comparable to physical activities.

    • For short physical and knowledge tasks that lead to more oxygen

    being pumped into pupils’ brains and are ideal as a section in the

    lesson. We call these “brain teasers”.

    • For activities that deepen and intensify the way of learning. This is

    learning through movement (embodied learning).

    An intense co-creation process with one hundred pupils and eight

    teachers resulted in extremely diverse exercises on various subjects

    such as mathematics, languages, balancing exercises and brain teasers.

    Digital active learning

    You can instantaneously transform the iMO-LEARNs into a digital learning

    environment by providing them with motion sensors. For example: you

    can link them with the i3LEARNHUB on your i3BOARD or digital board

    and integrate them into the Quick Quiz module. The pupils answer thequestions by moving their iMO-LEARN, and the system will automatically

    detect the right answer. The results are immediately visible. This adds a

    whole new dimension to embodied learning.

    No more sitting still in class

    THREE LEARNING METHODS (AT LEAST)

    As you probably noticed by now, there are many more sides to the iMO-LEARN than the cube you see in front of you. It

    challenges pupils and teachers to create more and more learning methods on a daily basis. We have only defined three

    of them: you will definitely discover more.(Dynamic sitting, Analog active learning, Active digital learning).

    Circle

    In this concept, each link in the chain is equal: the distinction between

    teacher and pupil fades away. Each participant can look into the eyes of

    the other. This is ideal for group discussions and for making an evaluation.

    Dialogue circle

    We place half the iMO-LEARNs in an inner ring and the other half in an

    outer ring. This creates a discussion forum in which pupils can reflect

    about a topic or a question in pairs.

    Semicircle

    The group focuses on one point such as, for example, a screen, person or

    group. Putting the iMO-LEARNs in a U-shape ensures that all pupils focus

    on the same point.

    Couple-bench

    One-to-one discussions run smoothly and with a clear focus with this

    concept. There are various ways of placing the iMO-LEARNs in relation to

    one another. The pupils sit facing each other, next to each other or with

    their backs to one another.

    Creating and innovating by yourself is the basis of iMO-LEARN. We’ve developed 53 basic exercises in

    collaboration with the test groups, in various knowledge and movement domains to make pupils and

    teachers fully aware of the system’s possibilities. Try and use them as a basis for designing new exercisesyourself. All the exercises are gathered in a didactic manual.

    STEP 4:

    The students put their iMO-LEARN in the position that corresponds

    with the solution. That position will be shown in the quick quiz.

    STEP 5:

    The teacher can check the feedback of every student.

    STEP 6:

    When the teacher selects the correct answer, the feedback will besent to the MDM’s. Students that were right will see green lights

    blinking, students with a wrong answer will get red feedback lights.
