The Jewish Experience is a very personal thing – it informs the values we live by, the way we interact with our family and friends, and how we spend our time. This looks

Through poetry, music, Israeli food, art-making, and more, JArts creates experiences that provide the inspiration, knowledge, and community needed to personally explore our Jewish Experience. No matter the type of event, JArts’ programs offer a haimish (warm, homey) welcome to all whether they be deeply committed to or simply curious about Jewish culture.

In the three years since the merger of the New Center for Arts and Culture and the Boston Jewish Music Festival, JArts has built upon the joy and vision of these founding organizations to become a celebrated and essential part of Boston’s cultural community. We have connected thou-sands of people across the area to Jewish culture, streng-thening individual and collective identities. None of this would have been possible without these roots, and the support and vision of our community.

Your support and participation continue to be integral as together we share Jewish culture with thousands of people in person, and thousands more online. Thank you for bringing a taste of Yiddishkeit (Jewishness) and fun to our community.

Experience. Connection. Identity.

different for each of us, especially in a world where almost half of all households who identify as Jewish are interfaith.

So how do we create a community that embraces all facets of the Jewish Experience? JArts.

“I’m proud that JArts played such an important role in the creation of Salome: Woman of Valor. Arts organizations, like artists, need to take risks to remain relevant. It’s important that JArts not only presents new Jewish work but also fosters its creation.” – Jerry Slavet, JArts board member and Founder of From the Top

HANUKKAH: THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS BERNSTEIN REIMAGINED: ANNUAL RUKIN MEMORIAL CONCERT

TASTE OF ISRAEL: BOSTON’S FIRST ISRAELI RESTAURANT WEEK

Israeli food is more than falafel – it’s a beautiful mix of flavors brought together by many waves of immigration. Taste of Israel let diners across Greater Boston understand more about Israeli cuisine and culture through special menus at area restaurants. Menus sold out consistently, reaching an estimated 2,500 diners. We are excited to share even more choices with diners in 2020.

from eight public and private schools participated in the creation of a first ever room size glow-in-the-dark menorah installation, based on conversations about light in our community

We asked highly regarded Broadway and Boston artists of various musical genres to add their contemporary takes on select Bernstein compositions. Some grew up dreaming of being in his shows, while others had never even heard the proposed songs. The result was an innovative and unforgettable evening of exceptional performances – with everything from a bluegrass version of Gee, Officer Krupke to a tap dance accompanist with Dance Suite for Brass Quintet – that introduced a new generation of performers and audience members to his musical genius. In keeping with Bernstein’s values, over 100 students and disabled adults were able to attend the concert for free, thanks to the support of the MIchael B. Rukin Charitable Foundation.

“Lighting the Hanukkah candles with thousands of people at the Museum of Fine Arts reminds all of us how many people are eager to connect to Judaism and Jewish community through arts and culture. We can engage and inspire so many people by bringing Jewish culture to life in new and creative ways. This is the power of JArts and this is why CJP is so proud of our partnership.” - Rabbi Marc Baker, CJP President

“Of the hundreds -- possibly thousands -- of events we’ve attended, celebrating our father during his centennial year, JArts may have won the prize for finding a way to express the sheer breadth of our dad’s range. Bernstein Reimagined delightfully captured all the moods: from raucous to contemplative; from propulsive to dreamy. We loved it. Bravo, JArts!” - Jamie Bernstein and Nina Bernstein Simmons, Leonard Bernstein’s daughters
