When candidates comply with Artisan RPL Criteria they will be

registered and entered onto a database

• They will be registered for the ARPL process

• The candidate will then be Orientated

The candidate will then have to be assessed according to the 3 phases

PROCESS FLOW

The candidate will then have to be assessed according to the 3 phases

 Trade specific Knowledge

Practical tasks related to the specific trade

 Workplace observation in production environment

During the assessment phases a Portfolio of evidence would be

compiled, assisted by a ARPL administrator and a ARPL Advisor

The ARPL Advisor would be a qualified tradesman and would be

conducting Assessments

When the POE is compiled the candidate would be given feedback and

referred for gap closure if there are any gaps

Page 6: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ARTISAN RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING · recommended for Trade Test If the candidate passes his/her Trade Test, he/she would then PROCESS FLOW Cont’d receive

These candidates will then repeat the 3 phase assessment and have

their POE’s updated.

If the POE’s meets the requirement, the candidate will be

recommended for Trade Test

If the candidate passes his/her Trade Test, he/she would then

PROCESS FLOW Cont’d

If the candidate passes his/her Trade Test, he/she would then

receive a QCTO “ Red Seal” Trade Certificate

If candidate fails Trade Test, he/she would be referred for practical

gap closure after which his/her POE would be updated

The candidate would be recommended for Trade Test and when

he/she passes and receive a QCTO “Red Seal” certificate

Rationale for Recommended Practical Venues

* FET College situated nearer to affected

workplaces are to be utilized and supported

* Where workplaces are far from FET Colleges, those

workplaces which has the greater number of workplaces which has the greater number of

candidates, would be approached to see if they have

training centres where the candidates in a particular

area, could be assessed.

* Where candidates from SOE’s are participating, they

will be approached for the possible use of their training

centres
