Implico announced it will exhibit in booth 2417b in the SAPPHIRE® NOW conference, being held May 14-16 in

Orlando, Florida. Implico will focus on efficient downstream processes in the oil and gas industry. The consulting and software company will present new developments to conference attendees, including the new 5.0 version of the SAP-endorsed business solution OpenTAS, an app to ensure timely oil and gas replenishment and driver integration with SAP® applications.

Implico will highlight the SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution package, focusing

on mobility and real-time data transfer. It will also present a live demo of its IDM (Integrated Dispatch Management) solution, which will show the complete workflow from order acceptance to automated tour optimization and final confirmation – all in real-time. One highlight will be on driver integration

with the SAP ERP application via a mobile device, such as an iPhone or iPad. This not only enables timely confirmation of the actual delivery data but

means drivers can bill the customer directly after delivery. At SAPPHIRE NOW, Implico will also premiere “Refill Me!”, a mobile version of its Continuous Product Replenishment

(CPR) application. Oil and gas dealers that have deployed SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution, as well as Implico´s add-on CPR, can use “Refill Me!” to simplify tank replenishment for their customers. The system generates an automated notification for the customer in advance before supplies run out. The application is used to enter the purchase order, which is then fed directly into the SAP solution. For terminal management and service station replenishment, Implico will showcase OpenTAS, a leading terminal management and distribution system. OpenTAS is the only solution endorsed by SAP in this segment worldwide and is integrated with SAP processes. At

EfficiencyfromloadingtoreportingTanQuid optimizes the automatic operation of its tank terminals and sets up a centralized control system using OpenTAS

Mergers are a challenge for any company. If the newly formed company is to act as a

coordinated entity, it must integrate all of its processes, systems and databases as quickly as possible. TanQuid GmbH & Co. KG, currently Germany‘s biggest independent tank terminal operator, was faced with this particular challenge in 2008. At that time, TanQuid was a business created from three newly merged companies with completely different system structures. It was clear what had to be done. The new company urgently needed a standard terminal management system that could draw upon the same data at all of its sites to enable centralized terminal control. A challenging project had begun. TanQuid selected the OpenTAS terminal management and automation system from Implico, a consulting and software company with many years of expertise in this field.

TanQuid was spun off from the VTG-Lehnkering Group as an independent tank storage company. It subsequently expanded with the acquisition of the Petroplus and IVG tank terminals sites. The company now owns 14 tank terminals with storage capacities of between 24,500m³ and 878,000m³. It operates two further tank terminals on behalf of other companies, and on January 1, 2012, the Transtank joint venture with BP Europa SE was added to the portfolio. Because OpenTAS had been used successfully for many years at the five sites of the former VTG-Tanklager (one of Implico‘s first customers), it did not take long for TanQuid´s senior management to decide that OpenTAS was the right solution for their new company too. The way forward

was now clear: In the future all of the company’s sites would use the same latest release of OpenTAS.

A uniform data language Thomas Knutzen, Head of IT for TanQuid, remembers the start of the projects well. “We had in fact undertaken to complete three projects in one. We had to consolidate our data, import the new database into a new technical environment and then implement a new release of OpenTAS.“ Everyone involved was aware that the different data systems were unable to communicate with each other because they were based on different programming keys. Bernd Marschalk, Implico Project Manager,

adds, “The most important thing was consolidating the data, because without doing that, we would not be able to carry out the system migration.“

In the three original companies, all the products, model types, transaction numbers and transaction codes were different. The first step towards building a common database was therefore to extract the data from the three different databases. This data extraction enabled the in-depth analysis of the data in common. The search results gave an overview of several thousand records. Out of this could be deduced which products were the best sellers and which product numbers had failed to generate

we manage several sites using a standardized software solution based on a single database. The technical environment is therefore easily scalable to include new sites. Every tank farm submits the same type of data, allowing our headquarters to operate a standard reporting system.“

The tank farm processes and the automated IT background processes are virtually identical at each site. TanQuid customers can use the same customer number at all sites. Individual customer requirements, such as data communication interfaces, can therefore be provided quickly and efficiently at multiple locations at the same time. In addition,

any activity for some time. The project team then decided which records they wanted to keep. Specialists at Implico redefined the data keys in order to transfer them to the new system. “This paved the way for importing the master data from its various locations into OpenTAS at each migration date,“ says Marschalk.

The whole project now focused on bringing all of the processes together and controlling them from a central point. We needed to make sure that the data systems at each site understood the same language. When they look back at this, Knutzen and Marschalk agree that they had set themselves a very ambitious goal. The more the project progressed, the more they began to appreciate its magnitude and complexity. As a result, the team size grew. The team always had to bear in mind during the migration project that every change to the system would have consequences that could extend as far as the tank truck driver. It was more than simply a matter of integrating new software. Numerous processes – the logistics chain and working processes, for example – had to be aligned. The customer expected the coherent deployment of OpenTAS to make its processes more efficient and identical at all sites in the future.

Roll-out in record time Following the data consolidation, OpenTAS 4.3 needed to be rolled out nationwide, initially at nine TanQuid tank farms. The Salzgitter site was the first in line. In April 2009, it was the first site to go live with the new OpenTAS

release. The other eight terminals followed in close succession. Each terminal had local issues to contend with and therefore faced its own, unique challenges. “The changeover dates brought their own problems. Migrating data in the middle of the month required particular care to ensure that the data was transferred accurately because we had to keep specific German regulations concerning taxation of energy in mind,“ says TanQuid‘s Head of IT, Thomas Knutzen. The obstacles were all dealt with, and in April 2010, the harmonization

project successfully concluded with the migration of the Berlin terminal. In under a year, the project team had succeeded in converting the nine sites to automatic loading with OpenTAS 4.3 for all modes of transport – truck, train, ship and pipeline. At the same time, Implico created a

new central database and renovated its entire technical infrastructure.

In separate subsequent projects, oil and gas specialists from Implico converted the Hünxe tank terminal to OpenTAS in November 2010 and more recently, in August 2011, the Neuss 1 depot. As a result, eleven TanQuid sites are now operating with the new release of OpenTAS. They are all integrated in the central database and can therefore be controlled centrally. Three more tank farms transfer their data from a non-OpenTAS system. “A special interface converts this data, allowing entries to be made via OpenTAS and enabling the other system to send the loading data back to OpenTAS,“ says Marschalk. This ensures that reporting from this tank terminal to the control center is

standardized and comparable.

Efficient, fast and cost saving TanQuid gains a number of benefits from the standardized OpenTAS Terminal Management and Automation System. Thomas Knutzen: “The key benefit is that

AboutTanQuid

TanQuid is the leading independent tank farm operator in Germany. The 16 tank farms it owns or operates (13 owned and 2 operated in Germany, 1 owned in Poland) with a capacity of around 4 million m³ make TanQuid the market

leader in the storage and handling of mineral oil and chemicals in Germany. TanQuid’s principal customers are the chemical and petrochemical industries. The company also offers comprehensive engineering services for external customers. TanQuid is based in Duisburg and has around 400 employees.

TanQuid staff at different sites can collaborate in solving new challenges. Similarly, the period of familiarization needed when moving from one TanQuid site to another is greatly reduced. Using OpenTAS as a standard also means that finding a solution to an error message at one site automatically provides a solution to potential problems at all the other sites.

Rapid integration of new transport legislationThe first test for the new centralized administration came early in 2011. At around this time, new customs regulations came into force requiring an electronic customs clearance for excisable goods being transported across EU borders. Implico has made provision for these mandatory Excise Movement and Control Systems (EMCS) processes. The electronic customs procedure – from login to validation to logout – is integrated in the loading and shipping process and runs completely automatically in the background.

Thanks to its extensive use of OpenTAS, TanQuid was able to introduce the EMCS functions centrally in a single step. There were only a few exceptions where

separate integration was necessary due to local conditions. “We are very pleased with the quick and painless integration of EMCS. The previous TanQuid

environment would have required solutions for three different systems,“ says Thomas Knutzen. Here too, Implico offers impressive time and cost benefits. Since the beginning of 2012, the transportation of excisable goods within Germany has been subject to the EMCS regulations. Implico has also integrated the necessary EMCS processes in OpenTAS for the TanQuid tank terminals.

A partnership for the future: TanQuid to use OpenTAS internationalThe next migration will take place outside Germany. The Radzionkow tank farm in Poland is a TanQuid subsidiary that still works with a separate database and an older version of OpenTAS. The project for switching to Release 5.0 of

OpenTAS, which has been the available since January 2012, has already started and is expected to be completed by April 2012. In Germany, Speyer is the only terminal not yet linked to OpenTAS and it is expected to make the switch in 2012/13. The new release will be integrated over the medium to long term into the three tank terminals with interface functions in Koblenz, Plochingen and Neuss 2.

SummaryTogether, Implico and TanQuid have achieved their goal and turned three companies with different systems into a single group with a coherent terminal management and automation system. The successful changeover has brought two key benefits: The data at the different storage terminals is comparable and can be managed centrally, and each individual site has gained from having the fully automated OpenTAS solution. One of the key reasons for this success was the way the team members from two different companies were able to build a capable project team. Head of IT Thomas Knutzen from TanQuid summed up his three years working on the project: “I must admit that we were surprised by the complexity of the project at first. But we grew into a great team, learning something new each time we tackled a different site. The final migrations went like clockwork and I look forward to working with Implico again in the future.“

ZGRaiffeisenextendsitsuseofSAPOGSDBio processes now integrated / Optimized working procedures

Implico, the international consulting and software company, announced that ZG Raiffeisen Energie, Karlsruhe

(Germany) has integrated its bio processes into SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution (SAP OGSD). In doing so, it received support from Implico, which developed the turnkey industry solution marketed by SAP in close collaboration with the industry.

ZG Raiffeisen originally went live with SAP OGSD at the beginning of 2010. Since then, the solution has been supporting all the cooperative’s loose and solid fuel trading operations. ZG Raiffeisen benefits from optimized working procedures within a standardized, and thus more efficient, IT environment. It has also seen a substantial reduction in maintenance work. The energy business was recently spun off into an independent company. As the employees were very pleased with SAP OGSD, they were keen to adapt the

solution for their own needs, and even extend it to handle other processes. Implico provided the support they needed to achieve this. First, the oil and gas industry software specialist put the FI/CO processes in place and modified

adapted the documentation. Implico also mapped the energy trading procedures for the product portfolio of industrial gases, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), carbon dioxide and biofuels.

The project was successfully completed in time, allowing ZG Raiffeisen to start 2012, as planned, with its new business structure in place.

AboutZGRaiffeisen

The ZG Raiffeisen cooperative is a trading and service organization based in Karlsruhe with business activities in Baden (Germany) and Alsace-Lorraine (France). With approximately 1,700 employees, the cooperative manages over 30 engineering workshops, approximately 90 Raiffeisen stores, nearly 40 Raiffeisen building supply centers, over 20 energy branches and around 70 agricultural branches. The annual sales of the ZG Raiffeisen

Group is approximately EUR 1 billion. ZG Raiffeisen is one of five cooperatives in Germany under the umbrella of the Raiffeisen organization. The Energy division offers professional energy management and consulting services and supplies energy to the farming community, private households, local authorities and industry and commerce throughout Baden. It also operates service stations at twelve locations in Baden.

APT opts for OpenTASAssociated Petroleum Terminals Ltd., UK: Ship loading processes to be automated

A nother British company has decided to deploy OpenTAS: Associated Petroleum Terminals

(Immingham) Ltd. (APT). What is different about this project is that it focuses exclusively on the management and automation of processes used for loading and unloading ships’ cargo.

APT operates the terminals at the Port of Immingham that serve the ConocoPhillips and Total refineries. The two petroleum companies each have a refinery just outside the small town located on the banks of the Humber Estuary on the North Sea coast. Both companies use sea freight for transportation and they share the same facility. Setting up a joint venture company to run the facility and manage the loading and shipping operations of both refineries was therefore a logical step.

In 2010, APT made the decision to replace its aging business system. It did not take long for the company to conclude that OpenTAS was the system it should be working with. The executive in charge of the project at APT had previously been

involved with the TOP´R project at Total France and was convinced that OpenTAS would also be the right solution for APT.

When the project is completed in March 2012, APT will use OpenTAS exclusively for ship loading automation and administration processes, including inventory management. All activities related to planning and record keeping will then be carried out consistently in OpenTAS. The system will ensure that products are always available in the right quantities when they are due to be loaded.

Further advantages that OpenTAS brings to APT: automatic receipt of nominations, communication with DCS system, transfer of results back to nominating systems, production of ship’s papers, customs reporting and stock management.

Another benefit made possible by the automation of data transfer is the minimization of transmission errors caused by manual input of the loading data. Because of the vast improvement in data quality, accounting is always accurate and complete.

AboutAPT

APT (Immingham) Ltd. was established in 1966 and manages the marine activities for the two local refineries owned by Total and ConocoPhillips. With its staff of 57, the service provider manages inbound and outbound deliveries across the marine terminals for the two oil refineries in Immingham.

HarmonizationagreedforIFLEXXandPIDXstandardsNumber of sites in Germany using IFLEXX rises to 25, with 65 planned across Europe

In the future, IFLEXX users will be able to handle PIDX data – and vice versa. There are only minor differences

between the new data exchange standard “International FiLe EXchange XML” and the US-based “Petroleum Industry Data Exchange” (PIDX) standard. At the IFLEXX Community meeting held in the end of 2011, Community members therefore resolved to harmonize the two standards. IFLEXX 2.0 will thus be identical to PIDX 4.9.

The 7th IFLEXX Community Meeting welcomed Petrotank Neutrale Tanklager-gesellschaft mbH as a new active member. Moreover, the two guest attendees MINOVA Information Services and Cegelec Deutschland GmbH were so impressed by the Community that they signed up on the spot.

This means that the number of businesses developing and promoting the free and open IFLEXX standard now totals 17 petroleum companies, fuel depot operators and service providers. A total of 25 sites

AbouttheIFLEXXCommunity

Following the harmonization of the IFLEXX and PIDX data transmission standards, further requirements (new message types) will be implemented in PIDX. As the IFLEXX Community organizer, consulting and software company Implico will represent the interests of the group at PIDX and inform its members about PIDX activities.

in Germany now use IFLEXX for the transmission of loading data either to the fuel tank truck’s onboard computer or to the petroleum company’s accounting systems – thus replacing the outdated MPKS standard.

The next Community will be on the 23rd of May 2012.

The IFLEXX Community comprises 17 companies, including BP Europe, Cegelec Deutschland, Holborn, Eni Deutschland (formerly Agip), Implico, LomoSoft, Minova, OMV, Petrotank, Petroplus Deutschland, Shell, Tamoil, TanQuid, Total and VTA, who jointly develop and promote the IFLEXX data exchange format.

Implico coordinates and chairs the community.

AboutIFLEXX (International FiLeEXchangeXML)

IFLEXX is the new international data exchange format in the oil industry. Data exchange using IFLEXX offers oil companies many advantages. Not only does XML permit the transfer of large volumes of standardized data, but IFLEXX also enables the bidirectional exchange of loading data both to the tank truck’s onboard computer and the oil company’s accounting systems.

In addition to Implico’s OpenTAS solution, loading data transfer via IFLEXX is also supported by several third-party TAS systems. Several shipping and accounting solutions now also support the processing of IFLEXX data.

The electronic customs declaration process for oil & gas cross-border transports, which has been

mandatory in the EU for over a year, also applies to movements within German boundaries since January 2012. Companies and logistics service providers will therefore have to electronically open and close even domestic movements of duty-suspended excisable goods using the “Excise Movement and Control System” (EMCS). This system is used since the beginning of 2011 for the IT-assisted control of excisable goods movements within the EU, and now also within Germany. Goods affected include energy products, goods containing spirits, and tobacco products.

The companies that transport these goods across borders are already familiar with EMCS. Now, however, they face the challenge of having to expand their administrative systems and offices so that they can deal with domestic customers and goods, and this will cause a sharp rise in data volume. A time-consuming changeover from previous procedures for domestic movements is required. The conventional paper-based documentation has been replaced by the EMCS system, and from 2012, the Administrative Accompanying Document (AAD) is no longer valid on German roads.

New directives implemented seamlesslyLess paperwork, simple and transparent processes – these are the aims of the new customs regulations. To make it as easy as possible for freight companies, the German customs authorities have

approved a number of software solutions. The OpenTAS terminal management and automation system, developed by Implico specifically for the oil and gas industry, has been certified by the customs authorities for use with EMCS. The integration of the EMCS processes in OpenTAS has made it possible to fully automate loading and shipping operations. Since receiving its certification in March 2010, Implico has implemented the EMCS system for numerous oil companies and tank farm operators, and is ready to apply this experience on behalf of customers affected by the new domestic customs regulations.

There are considerable benefits to having the EMCS application as part of a complete software solution like OpenTAS, compared with using the customs service’s website. The required data can be sent to customs within seconds. Entering the data on the customs website, by contrast, takes considerably longer – and runs the risk of input errors.

Because it is fully automatic, the EMCS solution integrated within OpenTAS is not only more efficient: it can also be used 24 hours a day.

OMV Germany GmbH, Bavaria’s leading oil and gas company, has been using the EMCS solution built into OpenTAS for over a year and also commissioned Implico to implement the electronic declaration system for domestic shipments of excisable products. Bernd Huber, head of IT for OMV Germany, confirms the benefits of the integrated solution: “Without the integration in OpenTAS, we would have found it almost impossible to implement the EMCS regulations.” Thanks to the electronic interface, we can turn vehicles round more quickly and cut waiting times without creating any extra work for our terminal personnel. “

In addition to OMV Germany, Petroplus, TanQuid, Total Germany and Vopak have successfully integrated EMCS

functionality into OpenTAS and are now equipped to handle the new German customs regulations. Implico is flexible enough to meet each individual customer’s needs in terms of EMCS integration, which can vary depending on the company’s location and the vehicles they own and operate. The situation is analogous to the requirements of the terminal management system and the EMCS processes. Conversion can either be carried out in one fell swoop or gradually over a period of time. A company with a number of different warehouses could choose to convert one site at a time.

Petroplus Raffinerie Ingolstadt GmbH chose the one-step-at-a-time approach. They integrated EMCS functionality for the railroad tank cars first and then for the tank trucks. “Thanks to our previous experience, integrating EMCS into OpenTAS took less time than the original implementation of EMCS for our European movements,” says Erich Kuttenreich, head of the tank truck and railroad tank car loading operation at the Petroplus refinery in Ingolstadt. “For such a project to be successful, four factors must be satisfied: Functionality, quality, and on-time and on-budget implementation. Implico’s deployment met all of these criteria and Petroplus is now fully prepared to deal with the new customs regulations.

Fast and reliable: the electronically controlled loading operation The OpenTAS software solution with built-in EMCS enables any type of vehicle to be loaded easily and fully automatically at any depot. Here, speed and reliability go hand in hand.

The process begins with a check of the company, driver and loading authorization as the tank truck drives into the tank terminal. The electronic customs declaration, including tax-relevant data, is made as soon as loading has taken place. Because a customs examination using this system takes no longer than a few minutes, the tank truck driver receives the electronic administrative document (e-AD), which clears the movement, as he drives out of the depot. This procedure avoids complex and error-prone data inputs.

Ready for the next development stage: EMCS 2.0 The EMCS movement and control procedure itself has not stood still and continues to be developed. The German customs authorities issued their latest EMCS Release 2.0 on 1 January 2012. This contains additional functions and improves communication between customer and customs. It includes, for example, more timely alerts and messages on the rejection of movements and provides details of shortfalls or excess quantities. Implico’s OpenTAS software is certified for this new release. The software specialists have taken the opportunity to incorporate suggestions and ideas from customers. One of the many enhancements in the latest release is a more customer-friendly user interface. In addition, transport routes can be configured individually and statistical and excise duty codes can be easily retrieved. Companies who are already using EMCS with OpenTAS will not have to suffer downtime when they switch to ECMS 2.0, as Implico is currently putting it through a test phase. As the new system runs completely independently from its predecessor, normal operation will be unaffected. EMCS 2.0 will take over only when the testing phase has been completed successfully. EMCS 2.0 is expected to be a mandatory requirement for customs declarations from October 2012 on.

Functionality included in the logistics package includes IDM (Integrated Dispatch Management), CPR (Continuous Product Replenishment), sales campaigns and integrated petroleum reporting. Some functions can be used only with SAP OGSD 6.1 (SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution).

Functionality in detail:

IDMThe purpose of this scenario is to provide the dispatcher of planned orders with a graphical tool for selecting orders from a map and assigning a combination of orders, loading depots and truck locations to driver or truck. The combination of loadings and drops represents a trip. IDM calculates driving times and times for preparation, loading and unloading and assists the dispatcher by displaying the trips on a Gantt chart. The integration of PTV tools allows for automatic sequencing of loadings and drops to reduce driving time and/or distance. Dispatchers can use IDM to combine trips in groups to cover a driver shift and release groups for execution. IDM can

also be used on ECC 6.0 systems without IS-OIL or SAP OGSD.

CPRThe purpose of this scenario is to provide users with additional and enhanced functionality for the Continuous Product Replenishment process in SAP OGSD. In addition to the standard functionality in SAP OGSD with ILAP CPR the consumption forecast calculation can be based on actual weather data and statistical figures. The initial determination of K factors for consumption can be based on customizable parameters for the location such as number of persons in household,

organize deliveries based on fixed time periods, e.g. per week or per month – regardless of actual consumption. CPR functionality also includes performance improvements. Both calculation and processes can be distributed to different application servers for load balancing.

Sales Action The purpose of this scenario is to provide the sales campaign organizers with a tool to manage fixed-period sales promotions involving a pre-defined range of products. The campaign organizer can inform selected customers by mail or email. Once the customer responds to the

heated area, etc. Individual consumption factors can be updated based on a comparison of planned quantity and actual delivered quantity. Not only can several storage objects be grouped, but one storage object can also trigger the replenishment of all objects in the group. CPR also enhances the order creation process: in addition to creating new orders, the process can also update existing orders that have not yet been executed. A ‘Fixed Cycle’ calculation is also provided, which can be used to

mail, sales campaign staff can create sales orders from the sales campaign screen.

Integrated Petroleum Report The purpose of this scenario is to provide oil companies in Germany with a reporting functionality that is compliant with German petroleum legislation (i.e. the Mineralöldatengesetz – German Petroleum Data Act) and covers data on crude oil purchasing, refined oil products, petroleum stocks, and sales and exports.

ImplicointroducesOpenTAS5.0New release out now / roll-out started in January

The new OpenTAS Release 5.0 is available since January 2012. On the last day of the 2011

OpenTAS User Conference, customers were able to get an initial impression of the wealth of new features and optimizations offered. Highlights include the incorporation of the EMCS 2.0 standard, support for 64-bit operating systems and a completely revamped user interface. In addition, this new release of the leading terminal automation and distribution system is already Windows 7-certified.

One of the most important new features in OpenTAS Release 5.0 is support for EMCS 2.0. Since the 1st of January 2012, a range of new functionalities are integrated into the new EMCS 2.0 release in Germany. Participation in EMCS using the old 1.0 release is likely to be no longer possible from October 2012. With OpenTAS 5.0, the extended function set present in EMCS 2.0 can be used since January 2012.

OpenTAS 5.0 now also supports 64-bit platforms. This will be especially useful for terminal servers and database installations, which can now use more than 3 GB of RAM, thereby boosting their performance and speed.

Another key change is a major usability facelift that also makes the OpenTAS interface in Version 5.0 more efficient to use. This includes a simplified layout for program windows, which can now be customized precisely to suit the needs of each individual user. The various

program screens were also optimized to display only the current data that is required in standard selections. Historical data can then be selected if required.

Some of the many other new features include simplified tank terminal object management, a report management function for the OpenTAS database and fine-tuning for automated processes.

The first presentation of these new features in Hamburg was attended by leading businesses from the German and European oil and gas sector, which were guests at the 2011 OpenTAS User Conference hosted by Implico. One benefit of attendance was the opportunity to contribute feedback and thus influence the further development of OpenTAS.

For the first time, oil and gas companies can now offer their customers an app – “Refill Me!”

This mobile application was developed by international consulting and software company Implico. “Refill Me!” is an app for the iPhone or iPad, which makes it possible for end customers of oil and gas dealers to play an active role in the delivery process by providing them with all the information they need about their current consumption. At the same time, the app enables dealers to automatically manage their resources – and improve their customer service. “Refill Me!” uses the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) from SAP AG.

“Refill Me!” gives oil and gas product customers the benefits of information and interaction. Dealers benefit from improved customer focus, optimized transport chains and increased delivery quantities. All of this has been made possible by international consulting and software company Implico, which developed the iPhone and iPad app especially for oil and gas companies and their customers. Petroleum dealers can offer the app as a service to their customers. It is a technological enhancement of the CPR (Continuous Product Replenishment) software based on the SAP all-in-one industry solution OGSD (SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution). CPR calculates the consumption of each customer and lets the oil and gas dealers know the best time for the next delivery. This is the first app that allows the end customer to become actively involved, as the information available from “Refill

Me!” tells users how much of each product they have left in each tank. The consumption curve shows them when the last delivery took place and when the

next one is due. Armed with this knowledge, the customer can then use the second, interactive function to place an order to be sent directly to the dealer’s SAP system. The app shows the current price

and arranges for delivery of the order quantity as soon as the customer confirms the order. The dealer’s staff is equipped with another mobile application (also developed by Implico), which is linked to “Refill Me!” The tank truck driver’s iPad provides confirmation that the order has been placed and calculates the best route from the oil or gas collection location to the customer’s delivery location. The app thus enables delivery routes to be planned automatically. In short, oil and gas dealers

improve their customer service while benefiting from lower transport costs and higher delivery quantities. The development of the new “Refill Me!” app is yet another example of software specialist Implico’s innovative capability. Thanks to their detailed knowledge of customer needs and many years of market and industry experience, the developers have succeeded in filling a gap in the market with the first app for end customers. The app was developed using the Sybase Unwired Platform, the SAP platform that enables developers to build mobile enterprise applications. Implico made use of this platform, but took development a step further by adding the end customer group to what was the original user group, the employees. Upon request, Implico can even customize “Refill Me!” with the oil and gas dealer’s corporate design.

ImplicobringshometwogoldsNow Microsoft Gold Partner in two categories

Implico has attained Gold Partner status as a Microsoft Midmarket Solution Provider. The consulting and

software company had already achieved Gold Partner certification as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) in September 2011, thus achieving the highest partner status that Microsoft can confer. This status gives Implico a competitive knowledge advantage because, as a Microsoft Gold Partner, the company is always one of the first to learn about the latest developments, allowing it to maintain optimum compatibility with Microsoft technologies.

With this certification, Microsoft confirms that Implico possesses a high level of expertise with the Microsoft product line. Over the past few years, Implico has held the status of Gold Partner in the ISV and Network Infrastructure categories. At the beginning of 2011, however, Microsoft fundamentally restructured its partnership program and drastically increased the qualification requirements for each

category. For example, the Network Infrastructure category was integrated into the much more comprehensive Midmarket Solution Provider category. Despite these higher standards, Implico succeeded in gaining the Gold Partner status. According to Microsoft, only one

percent of its partners worldwide are able to achieve this

outstanding performance.

Implico GmbH and itelligence AG announced their partnership. The venture is driven by a

shared solution map, which the two SAP consulting companies have drawn up together. The two partners firstly presented their joint SAP industry solution during CeBIT in March 2012.

With this partnership, Implico and itelligence both combine their SAP strengths and expertise while pooling their industry and process know-how. Customers benefit from even more comprehensive consultancy services and from a co-designed, all-in-one SAP solution that offers the complete function set needed for the efficient control of business processes. Metal processing companies face a broad spectrum of challenges including the

need to assess materials with strongly fluctuating prices while also managing risk positions. These tasks are further

complicated by the need to procure raw materials both on time and at a fair

price, since metals are subject to constant price and currency fluctuations. In this sector, companies can prosper only by keeping their processes flexible and their costs under control. To answer this need, Implico and itelligence offer their shared wealth of experience plus an integrated and fully-featured SAP-based solution for mapping the complex processes involved in metal recycling. Key process improvements are seen across the board, from goods receipt via the various topic areas relating to waste management law, metal assessment and analysis management to SAP-integrated risk and hedge management based on a powerful metals register.

Torsten Peter, Managing Director of Implico GmbH: “The Implico and itelligence venture is a partnership of SAP experts. Our shared solution map offers our clients first-class advice, plus solutions that significantly reduce project costs by matching the customer’s individual workflows.” Dr. Andreas Pauls, member of the Management Board of itelligence AG: “The integration of our two solution and product strategies creates an end-to-end SAP solution catering to every aspect of the metal and scrap trade.”

IntegrationwaskeytopicatStocExpoEuropeRotterdam: Trade show visitors impressed by OpenTAS 5.0

StocExpo 2012, the leading annual event in Europe for the tank terminal industry which took

place in Rotterdam this year, was a complete success for Implico. From 13 to 15 March, numerous attendees visited the booth of the international consulting and software company to find out about terminal administration and automation. Many of the visitors were particularly interested in the centralized administration of loading depots. This was also the focus of the well-attended presentation that Implico gave at the accompanying conference together with the tank terminal operator TanQuid. Attendees were additionally eager to find out about OpenTAS 5.0, the latest release of Implico’s terminal administration and automation system which includes EMCS 2.0.

“StocExpo is a great event for Implico,” said Jürgen König, Head of Sales International at Implico, summarizing the days in Rotterdam. “Every year, the trade show offers an outstanding opportunity to meet existing customers, business associates and potential new customers in a relaxed atmosphere.”

Discussions this year centered on data communication between field equipment, loading systems and ERP systems, consistent company-wide reporting, and the centralized administration of loading depots. The first concrete customer inquiry was made right after the presentation, and later many other attendees stopped by the booth for more information.

Visitors to the Implico stand were also very impressed by the new features of OpenTAS 5.0, the latest release of the

terminal administration and automation system that was unveiled at StocExpo. They particularly welcomed the redesigned, more clearly organized and user-friendly interface, the simplified data management system and the ability to generate individual reports for everyone involved in the supply chain.

Although StocExpo is a European trade show, many visitors to the Implico booth came from outside Europe, including

from the fast-growing markets in Brazil and India as well as various African countries.

Implico’s sweepstake also attracted strong interest – with a Kindle Keyboard 3G to be won every day. All participants automatically entered the main draw, which featured two Formula 1 weekend tickets for the 2012 Santander German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring (Germany) as the main prize.

During the conference presentation by Steffen Schliesing, Senior Account Manager at Implico, it was apparent that Implico has tapped into a current trend with these issues. Together with Thomas Knutzen, Head of IT at TanQuid GmbH & Co. KG, he presented Implico’s successful project for the tank terminal operator in front of an audience of about 100 people. The title of his talk was “How to achieve operational excellence while managing tanks and terminals effectively, competitively and cost efficiently through a central administration approach.”
