TERM 2 WEEK 11 - JUNE 26, 2020 IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER MONDAY, 13TH JULY TERM 3 COMMENCES 9AM MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL What a term it has been! It is definitely one we will remember! As I reflect on the last 10 weeks I am in awe, humbled and proud of what each and every one of us in our community has achieved during these challenging times. As a community, we were asked to do things that we had never done before, we were called to be extra-ordinary people. At the end of term 1 when we were hastily informed we were going to go to home learning I led the staff to reflect on the fact that we are in extra-ordinary times, we will be asked to do extra-ordinary things and we will have to be extra-ordinary people! Everyone in our St Paul’s community has indeed shown their extra-ordinary qualities. Staff - for their tireless effort in ensuring all children's learning continued, while navigating the new way of teaching via online. Parents - for adapting to their new role as teacher, supporting home learning while rearranging their own work and family commitments. And of course our Children, we are so proud of how they have managed this huge change in their lives, they demonstrated resilience and persistence. They have embraced the many changes and challenges and have continued to flourish. We should all be extremely proud of what we have achieved. It is fitting that we end the term with the feast day of our Patron Saint, St. Paul. St. Paul was a courageous and a faith-filled man. The events occurring in our world at the moment require us to have courage and faith. LIKE. FOLLOW. SHARE! Where Learning & Wellbeing Matter

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALWhat a term it has been! It is definitely one we will remember! As I reflect on the last 10 weeks I am in awe, humbled and proud of what each and every one of us in our community has achieved during these challenging times. As a community, we were asked to do things that we had never done before, we were called to be extra-ordinary people. At the end of term 1 when we were hastily informed we were going to go to home learning I led the staff to reflect on the fact that

we are in extra-ordinary times, we will be asked to do extra-ordinary things and we will have to be extra-ordinary people!

Parent –Teacher Conversations: We are aiming to hold Parent-Teacher Conversations the week beginning 20th July. Teachers and parents will be able to discuss student learning and goals for the remainder of the school year. At this stage, these will be phone calls to families due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will share more information in term 3.

Moreland Council has responded to my request to change a No Parking section to 1/4 hour Parking on Sydney Road this will allow more cars to park. Parents can leave their car for 15 mins only, to pick up children. They have been very accommodating of this request and we are very appreciative. Thank you to David Atkins from Moreland Council Traffic Department.

We farewell Elizabeth and Chelsea K who are relocating to Viewbank. We wish them the best of luck.

Have a great holiday break.Enjoy family time.

This week the Year 3/4 classes enjoyed a full day of Inquiry activities which had a focus on Science. The names of the activities included Let it rain and Fragile Cargo.

Look at our amazing creations that were so strong they held a heavy wooden block. We used a lot of teamwork which was FUN!

This lesson involved studying the sequence of colours on the colour wheel, and using oil pastel to create a ‘smudge’ tie dye effect. The blending of colours to create the tie dye effect proved to be hard work and tricky, however the children persisted and the hard work paid off ! The Year 3/4 children completed their artwork by adding their name in “fancy letters.” They did a brilliant job, and several artists were heard to say “this is my best ever artwork!”
