While preparing for staff devotion last week I found this reflection
while reading devotions on the internet. It really resonated with me
and the times in our lives where we have felt lost, lonely or lacking
direction. I choose to share it with you today to give you an insight
into what I do or who I turn to in hard times. I hope you can take
some part of it and allow it to resonate with you too.
Excert from an internet devotion....
...........maybe God would help me understand things. Maybe God
knew the answers to my questions.
So I prayed. I didn’t ask Him to take away the pain, but I asked Him
to grant me courage to accept the things that I couldn’t change. I
didn’t ask Him to stop my disappointment, but I asked Him to give
me the patience to slowly understand myself. I didn’t ask Him to
give me all the luck I could get, but I asked Him to not leave me and
just guide me.
Life isn’t made up of just the good. It doesn’t always work out the
way we plan and expect it to. There are unseen situations and an
unpredictable future ahead of us. I learned this the hard way.
I may not know the life that God has prepared for me, and I may not
understand the things He is throwing at me right now, but I will
always have faith in Him. I will always trust the plans that He has
made and I will trust His timing.
When all else fails, God doesn’t. When everyone else gives up on you, He
never will. When everyone sees you as a failure, He sees you as art. When
everything else is a blur, pray!
“I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and
says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13
“Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in
Me.” John 14:1

Dear Parents,
This week we are blessed to have Literacy Coach,
Ms JoAnne Dooner working with staff and
students. JoAnne is the Director and founder of
Get Reading Right and is working with us over
the next 4 years to develop and embed literacy
practices across the school as we seek to improve
learning and wellbeing outcomes for our students.
This week, JoAnne will be demonstrating phonics
and morning routines in classes. She will also be
observing lessons being taught by class teachers
and providing feedback. Time will be spent with
class teachers, building morning routines and
refining phonics instruction. JoAnne and Trish
(Instructional Leader) will also begin developing
Essential Agreements and Scope and Sequence
documents that will bring even greater coherence
and consistency to our learning and teaching
across the school.
On Monday, teaching and LSO staff put on our
‘Learner’ hats, as JoAnne talked about Cognitive
Load Theory and the reasons why our Morning
Routine is so important. We learnt about the
different elements of Morning Routine and how to
build them.
Anyone wanting to read about Cognitive Load
Theory is invited to click on the link below. The
document you will be taken to is one that all staff
have been invited to read as well. https://www.cese.nsw.gov.au//images/stories/PDF/
cognitive-load-theory-VR_AA3.pdf
Later this term we will hold an ‘Open Morning’,
where parents will be able to come in and watch
our staff teaching Morning Routines and Phonics/
Spelling. More details about this will be provided
at a later date.
All parents are strongly encouraged to attend the
Parent Information Session on Tuesday night from
6:45pm-7:45pm. A flyer was sent home last week
with all the details as to what the session will
encompass. Anyone wanting further information
can contact the Front Office or email me at

The annual ‘Loxton Mardi Gras’ is on Saturday 23rd
February. This year’s theme is ‘Showtime’. Our float will be
based around a ‘Circus Show’, with clowns being our main
theme.
We are asking those participating to dress as clowns,
something to do with a circus or wear bright, colourful
clothes. We will have circus equipment for students to use
and the float will be decorated with balloons, streamers,
bubbles and music.
We encourage grandparents, parents, siblings and friends
to come along and join our float. The more
the merrier! Participants are to be on the
float on Drabsch Street by 10:30am
Please return the slip on the Mardi Gras letter
that went home last week ASAP.

Hello everyone,
What a great start to the school year we’ve had!
We welcome eight new children to ELC this year; Georgia,
Riley, Nicholas, Judson, Charlie, Ivy, Elleni and Zara. It is
wonderful to have you and your families as part of our School
community. Also welcome back to our existing ELC families, it
has been lovely to see you all again.
These last two weeks we have started looking into weather,
which will be our term long investigation. The children have
been outside observing the environment to determine the
weather at two points of the day, drawing their own
interpretations of weather and illustrating what clothes they
would wear if it was hot compared to if it was cold.
We have also started our PE lessons with Mr Mills on Tuesdays
and Wednesdays. The children have been quite excited to
participate, especially enjoying jumping on the high jump mat!
We look forward to seeing
where this term and year will
take us!
God Bless,
Melissa Pascoe
ELC Director
