The

Technology

Club

The TIS Technology Club is for 4th and 5th grade students who are

interested in furthering their technological skills while being given the opportunity to work in a

real world/school environment. Students must possess the ability to work independently and in

small groups on projects, manage the project timeline and possess the desire to problem solve

and use resources to complete tasks. Tech Club members may spend time learning the basics of

coding, developing presentations, creating tutorials, learning video and audio recording and

editing, and functioning as a first level IT department, as well other projects that become

necessary as a means to provide a service to the school.

Students are not expected to have full knowledge of the needed technology/software, but they

must present a desire to learn and a willingness to receive help from others.

The Tech Club will meet on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:50. Days will be

determined once all applications are received and depend on enrollment.

Interested students need to:

1. Complete the application

2. Get a signature of recommendation from their teacher

3. Submit a digital presentation as to why they should be allowed to be a member of the

Tech Club. (This can be as creative as they need...PowerPoint, Prezi, etc., but should be

concise, but informative of their interests and skills.) Presentations can be submitted on a

flashdrive (please make sure the student’s name is visible on the drive) or emailed to

[email protected] (Subject line to read: Technology Club - Student’s Name).

Deadline: October 29th

Cost of the club is $20. Please do not submit payment at this time. If your child’s application is

approved, then more information will be sent regarding when and how to remit payment.

Any questions, please feel free to email.

The “All for Books” program has begun!

Don’t forget to send in your donation along with the colored “brick” that was

sent home with the book fair flyer! All signed “bricks” will be displayed at school during the fair.

With your help, all of the money collected will go toward purchasing more

books for Tolland Intermediate School.

If we reach our whole-school goal of $1,000 – our teachers and staff will be turned into knights for a Jousting Tournament!

Not only does your donation help our cause, but Scholastic Book Fairs will match monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to two non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children, families, and teachers acquire books and educational resources - Kids In Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.

This is a voluntary program. There is no obligation to particpate.
