Mahlermania – Nico And The NavigatorsA progressive outlook versus fear of the unknown, the bitter-ness of the outsider versus a yearning for greener grass, a ma-nic drive versus self-absorption… Gustav Mahler‘s music is a mass of contrasts and dualities linked only by a weak tissue of shifting balances. Nico and the Navigators tackle the cosmos of Mahler‘s songs in a production of poetical and physical ex-pression that endeavours to distil this sifting of senses for the stage. For Nico and the Navigators this project represents not only another excursion into musical theatre but also the be-ginning of a sustained collaboration with the Deutsche Oper.

Filmhuis Den Haag (2007), in Brighton (2005), in Monaco at the Monaco Dance Forum (2002) and in Cologne at the Me-dia Park (1999).

This year, it will be the first edition ever outside of Europe and the IMZ is deligh-ted about our partners, the San Francis-co Dance Film Festival, San Francisco Ballet, and the San Francisco Film So-ciety!

As a present to the 25th anniversary of dance screen, we will have the world premiere of the film Dance On Screen telling the unique story of dance in the audiovisual sector. Accentus Music

Co-Operation With NCPA Beijing Continued

In May 2001, Accentus Music filmed three performances of Nabucco – star-ring Plácido Domingo in the title role – at the National Centre for the Perfor-ming Arts in Beijing, thus being the first independent production company ever producing inside NCPA. The success-ful co-operation will be continued on 22 and 23 August with Accentus Music filming live NCPA’s Gala Concert on the occasion of the bicentennial of Giusep-pe Verdi’s birth. An international cast of renowned European and Chinese singers and the NCPA Chorus and Or-chestra under the baton of NCPA’s ope-ra director Lu Jia will present excerpts from Verdi’s most famous works. Hugo de Ana will not only be the stage director but also create costumes and settings. A production of ACCENTUS Music in Co-operation with NCPA Beijing.

Arthaus Musik

Jacques OffenbachOrpheus In Der Unterwelt

The opera portrays society as amoral, the upper class as lax and indifferent to all and public opinion in charge of both. In the early 1980s legendary director Götz Friedrich created his own contem-porary version at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The performance stars Julia Mi-genes Johnson, Donald Grobe, Astrid Varnay and George Shirley. (101679)

Friedrich Gulda & Friends

Austrian multi-talented pianist and composer Friedrich Gulda initiated the festival Münchner Klaviersommer in the early 1980s as a platform for crossover concerts. In these two programmes from 1982 and 1989, Gulda performs together with Jazz legends Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock as well as the gif-ted and internationally renowned Cypri-ote pianist Nicolas Economou. (101672)

Sergei NakariakovNo More Wunderkind

Dubbed “The Paganini” and “Caruso of the Trumpet”, Sergei Nakariakov has developed a unique musical voice, which is much more than a vehicle for astonishing virtuosity. The film pre-sents the musician at his best but it also shows the victim of a Soviet child prodi-gy biography. The mature Nakariakov’s breathtaking virtuosity is contrasted with footage of the child whose lips are sore from practicing. (101681)

Mariss Jansons And The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra In London And Vienna

Reflecting the ensemble’s busy tour agenda, Clasart Classic will record two concerts with the Bavarian Radio Sym-phony Orchestra under the baton of its chief conductor Mariss Jansons from London’s Royal Albert Hall and from the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein.

For the performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the course of the BBC Proms in August, Mariss Jansons and his orches-tra are joined by distinguished star pia-nist Mitsuko Uchida. After the recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in Munich in 2011, Mitsuko Uchida returns to appear with the Bavarian Radio Sym-phony Orchestra as the soloist in the composer’s Piano Concerto No. 4. The opium-fuelled obsessions, flower-like dancers, rural idyll, rolling tumbrel and danse macabre of Berlioz’s 1830 gothic masterpiece Symphonie fantastique conclude the concert of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with Mariss Jansons at the BBC Proms.

Celebrating Giuseppe Verdi’s anniversa-ry, in October 2013, Clasart Classic will record the composer’s Requiem with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orches-tra under the baton of Mariss Jansons at the Vienna Musikverein. Mahler 4 Is Gramophone’s DVD Of The Month

The DVD presents the Leipzig Gewand-haus Orchestra with soprano Christina Landshamer, performing Mahler’s 4th Symphony under the direction of Ric-cardo Chailly. It features special bonus material including Riccardo Chailly dis-cussing his interpretation of the work and a fascinating rendition of Mahler’s own performance on Welte Mignon pi-ano rolls. “The symphony’s irony and double-voicing plays itself in a sym-phonic analogue to Wagner’s music dramas that, one senses, the conductor-Intendant-composer Mahler would have keenly appreciated himself.“ (Gramo-phone)

TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL 2013

28th Edition, 29 August – 7 September 2013 | Hanover, Germany

The festival TANZtheater INTERNATIO-NAL in Hanover represents a platform for contemporary dance-theatre produc-tions. In 2013, TANZtheater INTERNA-TIONAL continues to focus on issues addressing urgent social questions, ta-ken from real life…

There will be eleven dance productions by eight international companies and by three young choreographers (Matthias Kass, Maura Morales and Shumpei Ne-moto) chosen for the “Think Big” 2013 residency programme in Hanover. The daily performances will be presented at various venues in the city.

This year, dance companies from France play an important role: Festival director Christiane Winter has invited Mickaël Phelippeau with Chorus – a choreogra-phic work for the a-cappella ensemble Voix Humaines, L’A./Rachid Ouramda-ne with Sfumato – for six performers dealing with climate refugees, Cie Hed-dy Maalem and his Éloge du puissant royaume – an hommage to krump dance with five young dancers, Compagnie Nacera Belaza with Le Trait – a touching dance trilogy with two solos and a duet, Sébastien Ramirez & Honji Wang with Borderline – featuring urban and con-temporary dance styles and Compagnie par Terre / Anne Nyguen with Autarcie (….) – a startling production for two B-girls and two popping dancers.

Moreover the festival is happy to pre-sent Come back (to me) by Swedish choreographer Kenneth Kvarnström – a very poetic work for three outstanding dancers and two musicians as well as the Swiss performer Martin Schick with his HALFBREADTECHNIQUE, giving a practically oriented introduction to post-capitalism.
