In 1452, Aretaeus of Cappicodia named a disease “diabianien” which meant “to siphon” in Greek. That was the first historical account of the

disease which was later called “Sweet Urine disease” because of the sugar in the urine (History of Diabetes). Today, we know it as diabetes.
