Santa Paula Lodge Receives Sweepstakes Trophy
at Santa Paula Christmas Parade The Lodge received the Sweepstakes trophy at the Santa Paula Christ-mas Parade for “best use of theme”. The name of our entry was “From the Mountains to the Ocean - A Moose California Christmas”. Thanks to the following Loyal Order and Women of the Moose members who worked so hard to put this great float together: John O’Grady, Ray Rod-riguez, David Arguelles, Ronnie Herrera, Denise Basua, Tina Basua, Dina Florentino, Brenda Smith, and Robina Lopez. A special thanks to Moro Trucking, whose owner, Gabriel Lemus, provided and drove the truck and trailer for the parade. Also, to Ramiro Delgadillo for making the arrangements for obtaining the truck.

Santa Paula Moose Lodge December 2009
FROM THE GOVERNOR What’s Up? As we near the holidays, I would like to
take this time to wish all of you a very Merry Christ-
mas and Happy Holiday Season. Also, a Happy and
Prosperous New Year.
I want to thank all of you who were here to
help with our Thanksgiving Dinner. Sue Cooksey and
Cowboy were in charge and did a great job. Thank
you also to Sista, Gene, and Cindy; and all the rest of their crew who served
about 80 dinners to Lodge members and those in the Community of Santa
Paula who came down to enjoy a great Thanksgiving dinner.
I would also like to apologize for the cancellation of the dinner on
the 2nd Friday of November, and to all of those who had a November birth-
day that did not get their dinner. I invite all of you with a November birth-
day as well as the December birthday members to join us on December
11th for our Birthday Dinner. Jay Chang is cooking a great dinner for you
that evening, please come down and enjoy.
Congratulations to the Santa Paula Lodge on receiving the Sweep-
stakes trophy for the float entry in the Santa Paula Christmas Parade. Our
chairmen, Ray Rodriguez and John O’Grady, along with Ronnie Herrera,
David Arguelles, and the Women of the Moose worked very hard to make
this an entry worthy of the top prize in the parade for the “best use of
theme”. Our entry was entitled “From the Mountains to the Ocean - a
Moose California Christmas”. It took a lot of members many hours of
preparation to present this great entry to the Community of Santa Paula.
Don’t forget to attend the Lodge New Year’s Eve Party. We will be
having live entertainment by the band “Litmore”, along with a buffet (finger
foods) for only $10.00 per person.
Until next month, I’ll see you at the Lodge, and again wish you a
Happy Holiday Season. Fraternally, Richard Mata

Santa Paula Moose Lodge December 2009
From Your Sr. Regent Hello Everyone: Hope all of you are doing well,
and getting ready for the holiday season. All of
us here have been very busy, with our Monday
and Friday dinners (and sometimes Thursdays). I
am very proud of all of those who continue to
help with all that we do. Last month I thanked
those who have helped with our Monday night
dinners: Robina, Stephanie, Denise, Veronica, Rosanna, Melissa D., Bonnie
G., and Benjie; but I left out Dina, Bonnie R, Margie and Eve (for always
being available to buy everything we need). We will continue to have these
dinners until the end of the Monday Night Football schedule and we could-
n’t do it without all of these members helping. As you know, the Monday
night dinner proceeds are going towards the Kids Fund. Please come and
support these “mini meals” and help build the kids fund.
I would also like to thank Jess and Angie for cooking dinner on Fri-
day, November 20th. It was a great soft taco dinner. Everyone enjoyed
and it was a sellout. Thank you also to Denise, Irma Lopez-Cardenas, Ve-
ronica, Dina, Melissa D., Angie Solis, Bernadette, and Brenda Smith for
making the Halloween Party for the kids a success.
We are now planning our Fourth Annual Holiday Party, which
will be held on December 19th. Joey Ortiz and his band “ICE” will be
entertaining us that evening. Our cooks will be the Casas Family and
David Sanchez. They will again prepare their traditional freshly grilled
“Taquero Style Tacos”. The Women of the Moose will provide all the
sides for this traditional dinner. Please mark your calendar and buy
your tickets now. We promise you a great party and delicious food.
The price for the tickets is $15.00 for dinner and dance and $10.00 for the
dance only. Don’t miss out!
Also, the children’s Christmas Party is on December 12th.
If you signed up your children/grandchildren, please don’t forget
to bring them. All gifts for children not in attendance on that day
will be donated to Toys for Tots. If your child is not able to at-
tend at the last minute because of illness, or any other valid rea-
son, please contact myself or Dickie.
Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2010.
Thanks again for your support, and I will definitely see you at our dinners,
meetings, and around the Lodge.
Fraternally yours, Tina Basua
