DONALD ROBERTS News' Staff Correspondent The Rev. A. C. Thober, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will celebrate his 40th year in the ministry with a Memorial service Sunday. Rev. Walter Pasche, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, Toledo, will be the anniversary speaker. Rev. Thober attended Concordia College at Fort Wayne, Ind., and was graduated from Concordia Seminary, Spring- field, 111., in June, 1914. He was ordained on August 8th, " 1914 at Gethsemane Lutheran'y eare - Church, Buffalo, New York, his home congregation, by Rev. Frank Verweible. Following ordination he was called to St. John's Lutheran Church at Underwood, North Da- kota, where he served from 1914- 1919. He ministered to the congrega- tion of the St. John's Lutheran Church at the Cove, Maryland, from 1919-1923. Trinity Lutheran Church, El- more, called him as pastor in 1923, where he was installed by the Rev. H. Horst. Rev. Thober has been their pastor from 1923 to the present date, a pastorate of 31 Under his guidance alid service the membership which totaled 150 on his installation has grown to over 400. A new church and par- sonage were also erected, and in the last few years a new Reuter pipe organ was installed, and new chancel panelling and carpeting and altar rail. Rev. and Mrs. Thober have four children—William and Herbert of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Rupert Meiz- ner, of Denver, Colo., and Eu gene of Marblehead, Mass. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Eoff and son Robert are on a vacation trip to Michigan. Miss Jean Arndt of Blencoe, Iowa, left Tuesday morning for her home after a two-week visit in the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Arndt and fam- ily. On her way home, she will stop at Indianapolis for a visit with an uncle. Thirty friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Johnson last Wednesday for a pot- luck supper in honor of the birth- day of Rev. L. L. Young. Dennis Kruse, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kruse, is re- covering from a wound in his leg where he was accidentally shot Sunday afternoon. News' Staff Correspondent The Rev. A. C. Thober, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church,

will celebrate his 40th year in the ministry with a Memorial service Sunday. Rev. Walter Pasche, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, Toledo, will be the anniversary speaker.

Rev. Thober attended Concordia College at Fort Wayne, Ind., and was graduated from Concordia Seminary, Spring­field, 111., in June, 1914.

He was ordained on August 8th, " 1914 at Gethsemane Lutheran'yeare-Church, Buffalo, New York, his home congregation, by Rev. Frank Verweible.

Following ordination he was called to St. John's Lutheran Church at Underwood, North Da­kota, where he served from 1914-1919.
