In October 1940, Greece had to enter the Second World War with the unprovokedinvasion of the troops of Mussolini in Epirus.Hitler to Mussolini saved from a humiliating defeat, invaded Greece in April 1941.Greece is ravaged and ruined by the Germans than any other country under theirpossession.

According to the International Red Cross, at least 300,000 Greeks died of starvation -a direct result of German looting.

Mussolini complained to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Count Ciano, "The Germanshave seized the Greeks and even the laces of their shoe."Germany and Italy imposed in Greece not only exorbitant costs of occupation, but aforced loan (loan occupation) worth 3.5 billion dollars.Hitler himself had acknowledged to Germany's obligation to pay this debt and hadgiven instructions to begin the process of payment. After the war, the Conference of Paris awarded to Greece $ 7.1 billion in warreparations against the Greek claim 14.0 billion U.S. dollars.

Italy to Greece paid a share of the occupation loan.Italy and Bulgaria paid war reparations to Greece, and Germany paid war reparationsto Poland in 1956 and Yugoslavia in 1971.Greece has demanded that Germany pay the loan occupation in 1945, 1946, 1947,1964, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1987, and 1995.Nevertheless, Germany has consistently refused to pay in Greece's obligations underthe loan occupation and war reparations.

In 1964, the German Chancellor Erhard promised to pay the loan after thereunification of Germany, held in 1990.Indicative of the current value of the German obligation to Greece is the following: ifinterest is used as the average interest on U.S. treasuries from 1944 until 2010, whichis about 6%, the present value of the occupation loan amounts to 163.8 billion dollarsand that of war reparations to $ 332 billion.

On July 2, 2011, the French economist and adviser to the French Government JacquesDelpla said that the debts of Germany to Greece to World War II amounted to $ 575billion (Les Echos, Saturday, July 2, 2011).The German economics historian Dr. Albrecht Ritschl recommended in Germany topursue a more moderate policy in the European crisis of 2008-2011, they may befaced legitimate claims for war reparations of World War II (Der Spiegel, June 21,

    2011, guardian.co.uk, June 21 , 2011).
