Overview

Patagonia has inspired western travellers from the time theybecame aware of the vast tracts of wilderness to the south ofthe Spanish possessions. It is a land of unimaginable vastness,strikingly beautiful in places, barren and inhospitable in others.

We explore on both the Argentine and Chilean sides.

We start in Buenos Aires then fly south to El Calafate. It is asurprisingly long way and a very different world when youarrive. We visit El Chalten from where the mountain walkingand views start at the front door. Mt Fitzroy is a stunningbackdrop for all we do here. Moving south we stay at ElCalafate from where we can explore the glaciers at PeritoMoreno, one of the world’s natural wonders. We will take a boattrip out past icebergs as big as your house to watch theglaciers calving. Moving on we cross the Andean watershedwest into Chile on what must be one of our more dramatictransfers.

In the famed Torres del Paine National Park, a showpiece ofoutstanding grandeur – a world biosphere reserve with a wealthof wildlife amidst superbly impressive mountain scenery weshould see guanaco and condors!

We are accompanied by local walking guides on our walks.These guides give great insight into local culture and also allowmore flexibility in the walks offered.
