Saturday is the big day. There are organized visits to wineries, performances by folk groups and a demonstration of traditional grape stomping. The grape barrel is brought to the scene on a typical ox-drawn cart.

Sunday marks the conclusion of the Harvest Festival, which is becoming the reference autumn food festival of the region. During these days of celebration the local wine stores and restaurants offer a special sample menu with typical foods of harvest time.

The Wine Brotherhood of Cangas del Narcea is an association which seeks to enhance the local stock. It holds several events, including a solemn mass and a proclamation ceremony for new and honorary members known as brothers and sisters.

This association was founded in 1997 by local wine producers concerned by the crisis facing the wine sector in the region. There has been a gradual disappearance of bearing vineyards, with the loss of customs and traditions rooted in Cangas de Narcea from time immemorial. Since its beginning, the association has promoted the recovery of vineyards and their improvement through modern techniques and the use of varieties native to the area. After several years of tireless effort, we can already see improvements in regard to pruning, pesticide treatments etc…But this task is far from complete and the association will continue to work so that this sector, so important in the economy of the past, can once again contribute to the region.
