croydon, uK, 10th July 2013. y3K, a recognised key innovator in cctV surveillance, and a company with one of the widest product ranges in the industry, helps secure selhurst park,

crystal palace football club’s ground in south London. y3K is a preferred cctV provider to the local south London club and has recently been involved in a major upgrade of the club’s surveillance system. paul singh, managing director of y3K, comments on the club’s recent success, where he is also an associate director.

an unusually sunny bank holiday Monday in late May saw crystal palace successfully return to the top flight of english premier League football by winning the championship play-off at wembley one goal to nil against watford. “the club’s triumphant return to the premier League has been achieved with some sound business decisions by the current owners and fantastic performances from the team,”

said paul singh. “Being involved with crystal palace over the last few years has given me a great insight into achieving ambitious goals in a challenging environment – that day at wembley was proof that anything is possible. ”

singh’s company, y3K, develops and markets products through three major subsidiaries: iQcctV, smart witness and Xvision. earlier this year, y3K won the contract to upgrade the club’s surveillance system, including the following equipment:

• Xvision ir speed domes, providing up to 100 metres of night vision capability in complete darkness, 600tVL and a 27x optical zoom• 8 x 16 channel dVrs, capable of recording every camera in real-time (25fps) and at the highest d1 resolution• 6 x Hd Led plasma 50” monitors, offering control room staff crisp high-definition images.

Y3K teams up with newly promoted premier League team crystal palace

during the tender process numerous market-leading brands were compared side-by-side with Xvision products. Xvision was chosen due to its quality of images, affordability and ease of installation. now Xvision cameras help the club maintain high levels of security on match days and other functions held at the ground. the Hd range is ideal for high-end applications where coverage of large areas is needed and is particularly well suited to stadia applications.

commenting on the installation, Kevin corner, crystal palace’s stadium security Manager, said, “we are pleased to be working with y3K and happy with the benefits our new Xvision cctV system has provided. the system not only provides increased security for fans, but also enables the club to meet the very latest legal requirements by providing identification-level monitoring and recording of the entrances in high resolution and in real-time. now the system is capable of monitoring the palace car park, crowd and food and beverage facilities simultaneously, meaning that no more than two surveillance staff will be needed at one time, in any one area. additionally, the equipment specified contributes towards crystal palace’s environmental efforts, especially the use of low power

consumption Led monitors in the control room.”y3K is a leading brand that has long been

synonymous with the manufacture and supply of high-quality, innovative products at competitive prices, while also offering resellers the highest level of support and the best margins in the industry. singh comments further, “over the next 12 months, crystal palace will be in the limelight and so too will y3K. over the summer, palace will be preparing for life in the premier League. the club’s ultimate goal, of course, is to remain in football’s top flight. y3K also has a busy summer ahead as we begin our most aggressive drive ever. we will be introducing some very exciting and innovative products at prices customers will find hard to beat. in the last year, crystal palace has successfully managed to fill the void in terms of premier League clubs in south London. y3K intends to do the same in terms of replacing manufacturers and distributors who haven’t adapted their businesses to the changing economic climate. My relationship at the football club has shown me that anything is possible provided there is proper dedication and hard work.”n For further information please visit www.y3k.com

While different cameras are applicable for different needs, monitoring camera images presents a serious challenge for security personnel. this is because even observing a single screen for a long period of time becomes difficult as the attention span drops. After only 20 minutes an operator can miss up to 90 percent of the activity in a single scene. IVA counteracts this development with an efficient event detection and alarm system that keeps a constant, un-blinking eye on any scene. Live images are analyzed in a matter of seconds, and the resulting data stream accompanies the video feed.

the cameras used for controlling public spaces typically have to face a range of challenges – often all at the same time. they need to perform consistently high, whether they are outside or inside, independent of the weather condi-tions and at both day and night. Furthermore, they need to be impact-resistant, to counter the

effects of vandalism, for example. As every detail matters, the images themselves have to be of such high quality that they can be used to evaluate the person in the picture with such certainty that the evi-dence can be used in court.

One recent occasion where surveillance technology helped increase security during a major event was the 2012 european Soccer championship. Bosch Security Systems provided the complete cctV equipment for the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv ukraine, the location of the final. 400 Flexidome 2x IP NDN-498, 14 AutoDome IP and 20 MIc400 Stainless Steel cameras were installed in and around the stadium to monitor suspicious behavior and alert security personnel where necessary. When large groups gather outside the stadium before a game, automated virtual guard tours can monitor critical areas, such as the stadium entrance, by periodically sequencing through

multiple cam-eras. At the same time, an intelligent user interface enables operators to pin-point the exact location of an incident. After the game, when the crowds are celebrating in the city, cctV surveillance ensures that footage of clashes be-tween fans, for example, is stored to allow for follow-up investigations.

even when a town is not hosting a major event, having the right technological surveillance structure in place ensures the safety of those moving around the city. the larger a metropolis becomes, the more inhabitants and tourists have to be protected. city governments request user-friendly, intelligent systems that easily integrate with multiple other systems. Increasingly, they are sup-posed to link and coordinate the responses of police, fire and ambulance per-sonnel – as is necessary, for example, during a car accident. cctV cameras monitor traffic as well as crowds and help fight crime. >

Large events, such as the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the final of the 2012 european Soccer championship in Kyiv and

the annual October “Beer Festival” in Munich, place the host metropolis at the center of the world’s at-tention for several weeks. On the one hand, they bring locals and visitors to-gether in a festive spirit, as well as money to the municipality. On the other hand, they also raise security threats, since they invite pickpockets, vandalism and brawls. In the worst case, mass panic erupts due to fire or other catastro-phes.

city governments therefore have to prepare extensively for such occa-sions in advance and support the police and security personnel with high-end surveillance technology. For the October “Beer Festival”, for example, 900 po-lice officers work around the clock along with 1,100 private security personnel. Furthermore, to increase public safety, more than 17 cctV cameras are in-stalled at strategically important areas of the festival premises, in addition to the permanent cameras in place at Munich’s train stations and traffic control areas.

According to the respective needs of each city government, a range of surveil-lance technologies are available, including day and night cameras, high-definition (HD) cameras and Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA). Visibly installed day and night cameras have proved to be effective deterrents in vulnerable areas. they allow the operator to see what is happening in challenging or poor lighting conditions, for example at major train station entrances or unat-tended bank branches at night. Advanced HD cameras enable users to iden-tify people and the smallest details due to particularly detailed pictures.

alerting security personnel. this effectively adds another set of eyes in a surveillance monitoring team, increasing efficiency

and significantly reducing costs.the advanced

SW400/SF400 series also feature VMD , which

can be programmed to trigger email alerts and other alarm

outputs when movement is detected in one of the 4 pre-selected areas. VMD enables security personnel to automatically be notified of possible security concerns and reduce their response time. What’s more, with the selectable light control modes in an indoor scene, 50Hz / 60Hz fluorescent lighting has no effect on image quality meaning setup times and costs are significantly reduced and end user satisfaction is maximised.

the combination of these features

with the Privacy Zone that covers up to 4 private areas such as windows or entrances / exits makes SW400/SF400 ideal where surveillance is needed in complicated site locations.

In addition to the fore-mentioned features, the WV-SF448 and WV-SW458 and 458M have Vandal resistant capabilities and are designed to fit a variety of unique applications. the WV-SF448 features a vandal resistant mechanism for high reliability as well as a mechanical shutter. the mechanical shutter is situated above the lens and can be opened and closed as necessary. the WV-SW458 and 458M are suited for external applications as well as internal as they possess a dehumidification device as well as an Ingress Protection rating certified at IP66, taking extreme resistance to the elements to the next level, guaranteeing total dust tightness, and the protection of the camera against even the most

powerful jets of water blasted at it from any direction. this means that when located in highly inhospitable positions, even in violent storms, the WV-SW458 will provide the continuity of service needed to meet the highest expectations in the security industry. the ‘M’ version also features an M12 connector which is specifically designed to firmly secure machine-to-machine connections so that cables screw on tightly and lock in place. this enables system implementers to easily link controllers, multimedia devices and surveillance equipment. this element makes the WV-SW458M ideal for the transport vertical.

With the latest addition to the Panasonic surveillance range possessing unprecedented intelligent functionality, end users have greater peace of mind and confidence that security objectives can be achieved and installers will guarantee added value for their clients. >
